Decron, you should really have quit while you were behind as you're just making it worse for yourself. ;)

Your conclusion falls pray to shortcomings inherently displayed in this chosen media.

Er, no!

Don't blame your own shortcomings on this media.

For example, if you do not want someone to think you are happy about a comment, do not put one of these :).

Similarly, if you actually approve of a comment, do not put one of these :thumbdwn:.

Geddit now?.

Sorry, I meant ;).

A persons emotion and tone is often missed in this format causing the intended message to be somewhat clouded.

Especially when viewed with hindsight, eh?

You nearly got there though. Better luck next time

 indeed!

Anyway, enough of this flirting, fun as it is...

Let's get back on topic.

However, the same engine was found in a supermini in 2002, and that was in a Ibiza.

Fair enough, but what was the Ibiza's 0-60 time?

So infact even by your own standards, the fabia wasnt the worlds first.

That is contingent on your answer to the above, but, just in case, I'm penning a new letter to Mr Audi right now. :D

I'll try, but we'll have to see if my luck holds out. ;)

No. Your really doing nothing here but poking people with a pointed stick. Metaphorically speaking of course.

It would be good if you did.

I think the Fiat Punto 1.9 JTD HGT came out before it too.

Actually, I take this back as the Fabia came out the week before it.

Perhaps.

But only if they really ask for it. :P

And, as stated previously, it's not a 'pointed stick', but actually a soft-tipped, Wobblytickling Stick. ;)

I think the Fiat Punto 1.9 JTD HGT came out before it too.

So, tell me more about this car's performance.

How does it stack up against the vRS?

It's stricken from my memory already.

I'm not sure why I'm doing this, but personally I'd describe a "sports car" as being the sort of car that you go out for a drive in just for the fun of it.

Which rules out the TT, and all other hairdresser or "merchant banker" cars! :) Oh and my Octy, or any standard Furbie, too.

So, tell me more about this car's performance.

How does it stack up against the vRS?

On paper it's the same although it handles better (My JTD does anyway)

See, now I do that in my Roomy. Is that a sports car?

Me too in my Furb.

I'll pose the same question.

"Sports" does not need to mean "fast", but it must mean that it is fun and focused in what it does - namely man and machine in harmony and making good progress over all conditions. A sports car from the 30's will not be as fast as a Fiesta, but I bet it is more fun! Fab vRS has gained much praise from the journo's, and dare I say it, it is fun to punt about, so that must make for a whiff of 'sports' at least...

However, even basic cars now are very good, and give Damon Hill a base model Micra and have a run through Buttertubs pass and he would still show us all up!

TH

Well you are mildly entertaining if nothing else :rofl:

I reckon you're being overly generous...

Is this thread actually comparing a audi tt, to a skoda fabia?!

No, not really.

The thread was meant to be a light-hearted dig at Mr Audi's claim in the face of Furby facts to the contrary.

I must say, I was surprised at, given this is a dedicated Fabia forum, just how little support there has been for the wee vRS.

Ouch!

That hurt. :(

I agree.

And even the hard-to-impress Jezza Clarkson rates the Furb in terms surely at least bordering on sports car definitions: Jeremy Clarkson Skoda Fabia VRS review | Driving - Times Online

"At this point I’d love to tell you that by fitting such a huge oil-burning stove under the bonnet they’ve sent the handling all to ****. But I’m afraid not. It hangs on well, there’s lots of feedback through the steering, and, as a bonus I really wasn’t expecting, it rides nicely too. So you get all the thrills of a genuine hot hatchback, in a well-screwed-together, comfortable and practical package which, because it’s a diesel, will go from here to Nebraska on a single tank".

Praise indeed.

In post 5, I clearly stated that it was on Octy vRS, so why, oh why, do you trawl up a load of quotes about a Fabia?????

Still I suppose it helps you post count!

Take a rage dump, man (as said to Fry by Conrad in Futurama). :D

OK, I made a error.

It won't happen again.

Probably.

I just saw the 'vRS', remembered the subsequent posts and conflated the two.

But, as it happens, I'm glad I did, as they reinforced the notion of a Furb 0-60 time that bettered the TT.

Still I suppose it helps you post count!

You know me so well. I'll do just about anything to notch up another.

It's not like that post, with all those links and reading to be done, took more than a few seconds.

I'm fly like that. ;)

Well, subjectively, mine sure feels like a sports car.

.....

This 'feeling' you have, is it like a Spidey-Sense?

To be fair the fabia rolls so much on the standard suspension, that the only sports car I could think of that it could be, would be that tyco R/C car that could run the right way up and on it's roof ;)

They are sort of known for that, aren't they? Just a shame they only seem to flip the one way! ;)

You ever driven a MGB? More roll than Greggs

Now there is a real sports car experiance!

I must say, I'm with Clarkson on this one, as I find my vRS handles just fine, thank you very much:

It's also worth bearing in mind that the Audi TT itself had some undesirable handling traits before it got its boot spoiler -- namely leaping off the road unexpectedly while at travelling high velocity.

That was the Mk1 TT, so the comment isn't relevant to the Mk2 TT TDi.
