grey vrs!!

Featured Replies

Just received the brochure through the post today, didnt ask for it so was surprised to get it. The engine spec has better MPG and lower emissions compared to my current vrs (06), just a software change to get this?

Was tempted at first but rapidly going off it, those wheels and the lack of options considering its supposed to be limited edition.

I believe the lower emissions is due to relocating the fuel pump off the camshaft. It's more efficient at fuelling now.

Does it manage to squeeze into a lower road tax bracket?

Yep - down to £170 a year from £210 and 2% lower in the company car tax. Plus the added bonus of an extra 2mpg on the combined cycle.

EDIT: I believe the new engine code is CBFA or CCTA

Edited by courtster

Ah, does this mean it has a timing chain instead of a belt too?

Found the following about the CCTA/CBFA engine on a VW site, so might be completely irrelevent for Skoda.

Original 2.0T engines from 2005-2008 are BPY engine codes.

Some late model 2008's (build date 03/08 up) and all 2009 will be CCTA/CBFA engine codes

Here are some of the major differences between the engines:

New TSi engine has:

- Name changed from FSi engine (fuel-straight injection) to TSI or Turbo Straight Injection. Same thing different name

- timing chain, no more timing belt

- balance shafts in the block

- pulley/gear/crank multi-piece

- 4 lobe cam with roller follower

- Fuel pump runs off the exhaust cam

- Different layout of the cams in the head

- different tensioner setup at the back of the head

- the new Engine management system med12.5. Much more advanced control strategies and some new surfaces that make calibration so much more powerful!

- Fueling is much, much better for lot's of reasons. More pressure for one, new pump, roller follower and some other stuff...

- variable valve lift in the longitudinally-mounted Audi engines (e.g., A4/5, Q5; but not A3, TT, GTI/GLI/Passat/Tiguan).

- New air intake setup, no more engine cover/airbox combo

- oil filter and oil dipstick relocated

- improved PCV system

- Compression ratio lowered to 9.6:1

Look forward to what REVO et al can squeeze out of it!

Nice work!

It looks like the same engine because the tech specs listed in the 2009 Octavia Brochure has the compression ratio of 9.6 for the vRS

Also the Variable Valve Lift version you mentioned that's in the A4/A5 at the moment is running 211hp and an amazing 154g/km CO2

Interesting power graph of the old engine to the new one...

Ordered mine today. Estate diesel. Dunno what number i will be getting but hanging on on till till March for an 09;er. Chopping my vrs se 751 for her big bro. I hope hes as much fun, will be sad to see her go but onwards and upwards eh.Shes too small to get my tackle in. Ooer mrs!

Just to confirm that, no doubt like those fireblade has had in to PDI, mine is a 2008 interior, Anthracite Grey, vRS with only MaxiDot as an extra. When I was arranging a price Skoda emergency services section had 25 of these already in stock.

Just to confirm though ... yours is not a Limited Edition. The literature and press releases appears to confirm that the limited edition is based on the revised Vrs.

It's not been too well received on here, apart from the leather seats. Personally I'm not a fan of the wheels or the colour but as long as you like it. Is it petrol or diesel?

I have had mine on order now for getting on 3 weeks, dealer saying Skoda arent taking the orders on them yet, which i cannot get my head round bearing in mind the credit crunch situation etc. Supposedly the order book is to open anytime now - anyone know any differently - i have heard rumours that they are all made and ready to go?

Get mine on sat 14th....

Wife bought it for me.. For my 40th birthday

Saw one parked down the back at Rainworth Skoda Mansfield (Skoda retailer of the year!?) the other day! Beautiful colour, but the alloys are a big let down!

Im suprised looking at that graph, id have thought with a lower compression ratio the torque would have fallen or remained the same with the increase in power,

I just don't get the colour I'm afraid. Grey's neither one thing or the other if you ask me

Give me a black or white one any day (not black AND white though - I'm not a mag!).

Delivered today, gone and picked my reg number tonight and have a sneak peak at it. Still had plastic covering on the the bodywork and on the seats. Smells ace inside. Heater controls look different? Seats look wicked and feel more comfortable than std vrs seat. Picking it up Saturday, will be good on one hand but sad on the other as it will be the last I see of the Fab SE. Let you know more when I get it :-)

Bet you cannot wait, get some pics up when you get it.

I'm picking mine up Saturday too, from Epsom and having skoda fit this for me:VW Golf Mk5/6 / Skoda / Seat MFD2 RNS 510 Premium Bluetooth kitThought it may be of interest to you... Since the LE's have restricted factory options, and initially Skoda were selling me a Parrot kit.....Cheers,z
