Centre stage of the showroom sat the new Superior. Full leather, lots of toys. I looked around it thinking that it may give me a hint on the styling of the soon to arrive updated Ocy.

Then I saw it. The most naff thing I have ever seen on a car!

Inside the headlamp lens cover, on the side of the inner chromed indicator housing, in large capital letters is the word ‘SUPERIOR’.

How did this get the nod of approval? It is totally pants.

I pray to him upstairs that the same designer is kept away from the Ocy update.

I appreciate style is subjective but in my view this really cheapens the whole car and destroys the image it is trying to attain .:thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

Has not stirred quite the same emotions as it has with you as I think it looks quite subtle and somewhat stylish, but I suppose each their own.

Yep, 'SKODA' would probably sit better.

Superb is a brand in itself, the old model certainly built a reputation. I'd rather have that written than Skoda. Skoda is still associated by some with the joke of a car they used to make after the russians took over.

it's just the same as the Golf having 'VW' on the headlamp section (as Gilesme says!).

I have to say i think it's these lil styling aspects that differentiates any car. Nice touch i think

Not seen it for myself yet but sound like they are trying to give a more specific identity to the car.

Now would Skoda ever badge the vRS as exactly that? vRS in the same way that a FIAT Abarth 500/Grande Punto does not have a single FIAT badge anywhere - its all Abarth.

Saw my first two Superb IIs in the dealer today. Disappointing that in one respect they look like all Skodas - gaps between the tyres and wheelarches big enough to grace a 4x4. When will they learn? If BMW, Merc and even Vauxhall can get it right, why can't they?

I had a good look over the SUperb at the dealer on Saturday and I thought the 'Superb' lettering at the side of the headlamp unit was very subtle but stylish - like the arms and lettering on a pair of posh sunglasses. Very nice car with great attention to detail imo.

A lot of my colleagues have said the same thing, as they just can't reconcile the Skoda brand with anything 'Superb'.

When will Skoda ever be able to get away from the 'What do you call a Skoda with a sunroof?' image that our eighties comedians so loved?

I can't say that I like the name being on the lights, but it doesn't bother me either. You can't deny that it is a superb car, though.

the new octavia also has these silver strips on the new lights with its name on. doesnt look too bad from the pics

I quite like the Superb badge on the lights.

Had a few people come up to me and say they liked the car, when i had one for a couple of hours on Sunday.

I like the R8 inside the audi headlight.

Hard to see, but it was a pish photographer........me

For the ocular strugglers i have made some slight adjustments to this photo, my photoshop skills are so slick you might not notice, but look harder.
