Osram Nightbreakers or Philips X-Treme would get my vote on the bulb front. And you might want your headlights re-aligning, if you're feeling that the 3 height presets aren't suitable.

What exactly does the sport button do in the disastra? We had a rental zafira with one and as far as i could tell it made absolutely no difference what so ever.

ahh so its not as bad as i thought then? nice one !

just being paranoid i guess.. will have to hope petrol does not go up much more.. thanks

ha ha, nice one fella. my vauxhall (vectra v6) gave me 22mpg, doing 500 miles per month gave me a nice hole in the wallet!

I think nearly 32mpg for an auto 1.8 petrol is pretty good going actually. :) My 1.8 Passat (manual) used to struggle to get that figure.

my car is an auto and you can def tell as if your going along doing 65 mph and press sport it will drop to 2nd gear and really go!

also if your braking slowly and press sport you can feel the brakes get tighter and you def slow down much quicker..

maybe yours is broken

:+1: - there is no reason why the stock Ashtray headlights should not perform well.

Getting 34 MPG from my Mondeo ST220 V6 at the moment :D

Your 1.8 Auto Astra will do 65 in 2nd gear?

And I really can't see the 'Sport' button having any effect on your brakes whatsoever.

Steve

yes 65 in 2nd ...

bye bye petrol

I'm not that surprised; I've driven several 4 speed manuals, and a couple of 3-speed autos that would do 60 plus in second.

Hmm yes, hadn't considered the ratios for a 4-spd auto....

Steve

correction with sport mode on it does 75mph in 2nd gear...

and the phillips xtreme lights are not much different to the others :(

waste of £30!

My 6 speed manual will do 65 in second.. :P

I fitted these Philips xtremes to my Octavia and thought they made a noticeable difference. I think the light is whiter and a bit brighter, not xenon levels of brightness, but worth the £30 in my opinion.

Wish they did the ones for the high beam.
