Joking aside, it was incredible how easy the shine returned, that cleaning session by Baker made a big difference

I got the Karcher working Baker, works a treat. two buckets, a propper wash mit and microfibre cloth used, you would be proud

Glad you appreciate the work mate, it really is so much quicker to wash the car once it's been prepped and sealed properly............

Well despite not having the car in the unit anymore I still seem to be working on it. I had the replacement rear beam shot blasted and primered it tonight ready for painting maybe tomorrow and then i can fit the new rear bearings and Powerflex bushes.

I should be visiting with an Escort vehicle this Saturday - I wonder if it will pull better than the PD100

If Mr WW has a rear anti roll bar will you strap the bar to the beam before or after fitting to the car?

Well it all has to come off first, then refit the beam, main bits of suspension, and the bar kinda goes at the same time - as Ross has a ramp it should not be too bad I guess

As the straps go round the bar though, I'd imagine it is easier to first fit the beam, then the bar, then do up the 'rear'

Not 100% sure, I have to

1) Get up at reasonable time

2) Go to Helpful Hirings

3) Drive from there to Bracknell with trailer

4) Fit battery to the Escort again (may actually do that today as I've had it on charge under my desk )

5) Hope it starts so I can drive it down the parking garage

6) Strap it down onto the trailer, and for once stop it from moving considering it did with Ben's one and that was not too bad as it was a clutch I did not care about - don't want this clutch to go wrong.

7) Drive from Bracknell to the Unit, which takes a good few hours at best - it is a fair distance & bumpy road near the end where I'll be taking it easy.

Gambling early afternoon at the moment though

Gimme a buzz if you like on Sat, Ben's got my mobile number & I've got the Parrot kit fitted

I checked the thread on the tyres, at the moment they're all fine, fronts are pretty new still I guess, will see in about a month whether to stick Toyo's on instead

lots to do then :eek: we need to be there before 11 but I've no idea how long things will take.unless Ben's got to get back we could maybe do a run to the local Tesco for some food and maybe see you when you get there? depends on what Ross has planned of course

I've dropped the battery back on the Escort, she fired up no problem, and managed to get her down to the 'road level' floor in the car park, ready for the pickup tomorrow AM.

Now I've just got to check what time Helpful Hirings opens and aim to get there first thing. First test for the towbar wiring I think with a trailer, so fingers crossed

Without the Escort on the back of the trailer progress should be pretty decent, but once the car is loaded it will take me quite some time to get to the Unit, I don't know what speeds will be stable considering the changed load & the rear beam bendy effect, but I'll see you there at some stage

As it is 'only' a 13 foot trailer, the car should not be able to shift much fingers crossed

Was outside Helpful Hirings (highly recommended, friendly place and not too expensive either) at 750, trailer was on a little later, a little while later still, car loaded, cup of coffee at the office, then off to Unit18

Dropped her off, plus a few more bits and pieces. Ended up having a trailer BBQ

Thanks Ben, Andy & Ross for the help with the minor glitch on the way home - she's all good again now.

Little OT but I got home to a lovely letter from the Family Court declaring I'm no longer married to my ex at long blimming last - which totally made my day even more.

On the trailer towing front, the estate appears very stable, and the extra power/torque sure makes it easy to safely pull a trailer with car

It was unfair you guys managed to get onto the A34 - with the trailer behind I could not get enough room in front of the guy in the 'fast lane' to make the same move annoyingly :P

Yeah they're the ones, very friendly bunch of guys there, helpful and decent prices too from what I can tell

Ben recommended them to me at some stage, and both of us have hired trailers from them in the past
