WW VRS - Fabia vRS Combi

Featured Replies

Suggest you round up a group of wild Brisky members (the usual suspects), provide refreshments plus hand tools and redecorate the parking at work.

I find painting a "1" in front of posted speed limits to be a nice touch....

Little odds and ends done inc

MOT - Done passed no problems

Side light bulb replaced (for above)

Heater cable refitted (damn thing popped off)

Air Con regassed (lovely and cold, brrr)

vRS fuel delivery unit fitted (gauge was working backwards)

Vibra technics dogbone mount removed (too damn stiff, but is an early petrol version).

Rear bumper removed, ready for rear skirt to be fitted up

:)

Is it MOT tested under a special category, as it was not released in it's current state, or does it count as just a modified Skoda Fabia Estate regardless? :)

It should still fall under normal category, most of the bits that count for that are OEM :)

great news, just the insurance now and a bit of work and its back on the road for you wiebo!!

Nice one

Excellent stuff Ross. Well done matey.

So close to completion now!

Is this running a stage 2 TD turbo and a superchips map? Or have things moved on since then?

Insurance is already done, considering I was driving it, just with reduced power output as compared to the vehicle output at the time ;)

I had fun insuring mine due to the engine swap, power output and all other mods. Only a couple of insurers would touch it

Who did you end up going with Alex?

Who did you end up going with Alex?

Steve

Adrian Flux, agreed valuation, unlimited mileage and all mods declared + can mod more as long it doesn't affect BHP.

Alex

Mine's with Norwich Union - has been since it was increased power. Now Aviva or will be soonish I guess - but the policy allows for modding and all is declared, will just send an update in based on the final list and that should be it :)

I have been with Zurich on all my modifed car before and never had a problem, but this one due to the level of modification they would not even quote!

Zurich wouldnt touch the Fabia vRS after remap. Pre-remap everything was fitted and it was cheap (relatively). They let me fit everything else without any trouble (incl. hybrid & FMIC), however when I got it mapped, they wouldnt insure it any longer

No problems for me, trade insurance.

Drive pretty much anything I like.

yet more excellent news Mr.Clarke, our day went well too :)

Excellent, look forward to helping the Westons in their task of making the purchase a little more 'special'.

Add to that Mr Clarke has uncovered the Allards pipe that tried to hide itself :P - so that means EGR delete and the pipe down from there to the FMIC will have the Basil special pipe + fewer bits of hose, and more importantly, no more of the nasty clips that fail :)

plenty of work coming your way lad don't you worry.

The missing headlamp washer just finally turned up off of back order so I can at least cover the holes in the bumper and clean the headlamps :)

Hmm - I recognise those ;) hehe - had to replace one of them at some stage :)

Really looking forward to the weekend

The OEM top mounts aren't the most robust of things for sure, killed mine in 30k on my vRS, Shifty had a couple of sets by then I'm sure

There are a couple of different prefixes for the top mounts, not sure on what exactly is the difference between them all. These are for the Polo GTi, thought i'd give them a whirl.

The weak point is those lovely threaded metal inserts, which rotate into the rubbers if for whatever reason the bolts cease into them - I did buy a torque wrench at some stage though. When I removed the strut off the vRS originally, the bolts were a bit rusty, but came off reasonably well I guess.

I'm sure they'll be fine :D
