I've never seen the bolts seize in the top mounts to be honest.

I've seen plenty cross threaded when muppets have fitted a strut brace though.

Mine were replaced as the bearings had gone in the top of the mount at the time, I cant remember the mileage of the top of my head though :o

As I have got a full service and cambelt to do on an Octavia vRS and Tracey is going out so i've got to be back fairly sharpish this could be a little fraught.

Looking great though

Looking good.

Heard good things about the AP coilovers - let me know how it rides :)

Will do

Looking good.

The front springs are progressive rather than the regular straight 2 1/4 inch springs so I would expect the ride to be quite forgiving as they are kind of a half way house between 'race' coil overs and springs and dampers if you get me.

This has got me wondering if perhaps I should consider uprating my topmounts. Might wait until they actually wear out, but they are now 8 years old.

Oooh Ross , glad you got them OK

Couriers are sometimes a bit of a mare!!!

But glad all is good

I have been watching this thread , even though I have not posted , but can say your a genius Ross

Well feck me what a day. Started at 6.30am, Coil overs fitted to the vRS. Then a full service, cambelt and water pump and weld up the centre exhaust mounting on Boyced's Octavia vRS. Then get the estate back in and fit rear bumper and extend the tail pipe to suit. Back home for 3.30pm. Not one stop, nowt to eat and one cup of coffee to keep me going, i'm shattered. Still check these pics out, COTM, I think so ;)

Handling has been transfomed, no squatting any more under power and corners are a breeze and not a nightmare thank god. Needs alignment again but that isn't to much hassle.

Hand over tomorrow :)

Much better! :D

Hi Ross,

Schedule did look a *tad* tight

Totally amazing job, really looking forward to the drive tomorrow

Hope you can get a bit of rest now!

Windscreen on Tuesday and will try to nip to Unit 18 with a few bits next weekend ;)

Super work Ross!

The estate looks spot on now, it's good to see all your hard work finally paying off.

Your a lucky a man WW! ;)

I sure am :D

DavidY's Fabia Estate was bought as a 'running car', high mileage but FSH and running well for the high mileage etc. Add lots of work done to the old vRS in the past by Stu, APS, Xav and some by myself. Add a crash ;) Storage of the vRS at my office for a while, then at Bengie/Andypandypoos drive for a *long* time. Then back to the office again, until they complained :P - moved to a friendly neighbour's drive instead. Off to Unit 18 after Ross got settled in. And the rest is history

Ventectomy to the Estate was done by Basil, and another piece will be going on later (post-Allards pipe boost pipework).

Ross did an absolutely phenominal job stripping the vRS, disposing of the shell after some decoration with angle-grinder :P - then taking the estate late last year, and fitting the vRS bits into the estate shell, with all the perfectionist details, not 'just' doing the job, but doing it to better-than-new standards.

Paint job by Gary!

Baker21 for the detailing.

Ross - absolutely top job, dead-excited about driving her  Amazing how you've managed to fit all the work in on top of full time job, family, having a life (sometimes :P) and starting of Unit 18!

Awesome

forgot painting ;)

Ventectomy, vasectomy, whatever - always happy to help out mate......

Vasectomy - nah thanks, still got a job to do :o

Vasectomy - nah thanks, still got a job to do :o

Happy to hear it mate. So tomorrow's the big day - please - some more pics and a review.

This is a car that was never designed by VAG, and certainly never built to the high standards of Unit 18.

It will be amazing:thumbup:

Looking really nice now guys, a top job.

One small and minor personal observation - I prefer facelift tail lights.

Did they do a face-lifted version for the estate as well? If so, you wouldn't happen to have a pic of them ?

its looking spot-on , now its lowered properly ;)

Will have a chat with Ross, we've got a few things to discuss anyway, but I have a feeling I'll be too busy enjoying the drive for a while to come hehe ;)

It is hard to imagine the drive without driving it, it has been a long time since I had 200bhp on tap :D

I agree Stu, if funds had been available face lifted rear lights would have been on, but they wil lmake a feature.

Excellent thread. Always enjoy Reading the updates.

looking awesome, shows the skill, quality of work and dedication of Ross
