Review: OEM Bluetooth Kit install

Featured Replies

Sorry for the delay in getting this posted on the forum Ross...

Last Saturday, Ross @ Unit 18 carried out the install of the Skoda OEM Bluetooth kit, as supplied by VRStu, in my 2008 Octavia MkII.

Ross did a great job and even applied a slight change to VRStu's wiring implementation to make things easier and all worked perfectly. I'm more than happy with the work carried out, and have no problems recommending Ross to friends etc. He provided an excellent quote and did the work in a timely, neat and competent manner.

Thanks for the additional work done in tidying up the TomTom antenna and VAG-com enabling of the 2nd rear foglight - all very much appreciated.

I will also keep Ross and the guys at U18 Automotive in mind for my future service work to be carried out, as other reviews and recommendations are all 5-star!

I saw you a week or 2 back on the roundabout near Bentleys Car Place, or rather saw your plate and thought it was quite cool!

I'm picking up my pretty much identical to yours Octy (in looks, mines TDI) on Friday. As I'm near you how long did it take you to get there and back?

Also, (via pm if necessary) what was the total cost of it all?

Cheers!

I'd like to know the cost too if possible.

Another great install by Ross. (no hand injuries this time?) A question (slight off topic) can the oem kit accept a second phone?

Hi Guys - thanks for the posts. It's simple - PM VRStu about supply of the OEM BT kit and PM Lummox about install. Reasonable pricing and even with the drive (2hr 40mins on economy mode from Baildon!) and three quarters tank of petrol - much cheaper than asking the stealer to supply and fit tho.

Answering the slightly off topic bit. Yes you can have 2 phones paired to the kit, not I would think active at the same time though if that's what you mean. It would play havoc with the address book.

Thanks for that... would a second phone mess up my address book then?

Youd be much better putting all the numbers you want on the one phone!

Hear what you say, just have work and home moby and would have like to have used both with the kit.

I use 2 phones for the very same reason. When it detects a new phonebook it downloads it which takes seconds in my case. Then when you switch back it will download the other one.

Just ignore the work one!

I use a BT headset for the work one or just tell them I was driving and couldn't answer the phone!

When I installed mine I soldered the joints and used heat shrink wrap over the joints in place of the in-line crimps. otherwise the same as Stu.

I think the variation Stephen refers to is actually for the power and ground connections.

I also use the method myself as it does make a little more room behind the dash.

Basically you can get 12v from the fuse panel and the ground from the ground terminal near the bonnet pull.
