Prob Stupid question

Featured Replies

just woundering as i was looking throught the extras book on the new octavia and suberb at the local dealership,

gettin to the point:confused: the extra on some of them have an extra light on the light switch wich allows you to flash your lights and the stay on for 30seconds while you get out the car and that.

and the second thing is that they also have light sensitive/water sensitive wipers:confused::confused: so if it goes dark the lights will come on and when it rains the wipers go automatically???? do you recon these can be done to a mk1 octavia?

any ideas or tell me to shut up either way:rofl::rofl:

Yes thank you..:P:P:P

Serious answer - it needs extra sensors (except maybe "follow home lights"; they might be doable using the fade for the courtesy light as a feed, but will have nasty efffects on your QI bulbs). Oh and the auto headlights aren't that great; I'm fed up of meeting Pugs with the headlights stuck on in broad daylight!!

Just a thought - Sell the octy and get taxi's everywhere then you wont even have to drive!

It would cost you more than its worth to do rain sensors then you have to work out how to wire the things up to your wiper relay etc. The lights are slightly easier to do, just need a light sensor (12v photocell) wired through a relay to your lights. Just one question though.....WHY?

Surely flicking a switch is much easier, and there's a LOT less to go wrong. Rain sensed wipers are much more trouble than they're worth, and that's if they're worth anything at all. I personally wouldn't take any advice about reliability from Mr Pug or Mr Citrus.....

On my previous 306, it did not used to have an intermittent mode, instead it used a rain sensor to decide when to wipe the screen. This was good say for when travelling down a road in very light rain, where maybe you only need a wipe once every 30-40 seconds (if that) and then a car goes the otherays and soaks you wil puddle water - the wipers sping into life and clear the screen. It is one feature of my 306 that I missed change changing to the Octy. It should also be noted, that wipers had to be placed into that "rain sensor" mode once the ignition was turned on (leaving the stalk in that position while powercycling the ignition would not reenable it automatically).

However I have to agree with the comments about the lights... I quite often see cars with their lights on when hey should not be... B*Ws are just as had as french cars for this trick.... (probably the only time a B*Ws has its lights on!)
