Not allowed to trade in?

It's amazing what the sale of a Kidney can net you these days.

Enough to crystalise a big loss by the looks of it.

But seriously, these months until Feb, March are pretty bad for dealers, the change to Sept reg's had kept a lot of them going. With uncertainty over peoples jobs then cash needs to stretch further so in the medium term demand and supply will constrict as people make their cars last 4 years instead of an average of 3. With the number of new car deals over the last few years it was inevitable that used prices would eventually suffer.

I'm certainly rethinking my change every 2 years policy, although it has been used cars I've been buying at 18-24 months old and not losing too much on them.

I also hope to not get stung too badly with my 1.9tdi and thankfully is lowest co2 of the octavia range so might hold up better. If the market had been the same in January as it is now there's no chance I could have swapped to the octy from the v6 superb.

All the manufacturers (except BMW) need to do something about their co2 emissions as the bmw diesels are leaving audi etc for dead

Facing the same issue at the moment Dave. With two to trade it's doubly compounded, even Clares civic, a 2.2 es diesel is proving hard to move on...the below trade book offers are also beginning to peeve me off...especially when using his same quote engine his windscreen price of 10500 had a trade of 8400. I know folk need to eat, but c'mon.

This mirrors my recent experience with my Fabia vRS. It's going tomorrow. I got a unpleasantly low PX price, but at least the deal on the new car was good- but the similar (lower mileage but tattier) Fab I saw on a forecourt was £8k.....

Maybe we will get to a sensible stage again where people don't have new cars every couple of years.

The rate we have all been buying new cars on all manner of deals must mean there is a huge glut of second hand ones out there

Drivethedeal are doing the Octy VRs 170CR for £15,523, brand new!! (not even pre reg), so assuming credit is starting to flow again, there might be a window of opportunity appearing in which it will be very cheap to buy a new car. Mind you the residuals are going to be awful.

my god if thats true they are making over 1800 pounds LOSS to sell that!

that is just crazy, i mean my franchise is shutting down at the end of the month and if i sold our showroom vrs cr for that i'd end up having to pay that back out of my own pocket, even now!

unbeleivable

I am guessing there is big time Dealer support coming on line, perhaps your Dealership hasn’t been notified due to it’s imminent and sad closure

we get the same access to the current campaign, i even rang skoda to be sure and they have said that price is sheer suicide, and may consider investigating to make sure the sales legit
