Hold on, hold on, where is the engine in a mid engine car? About the same place as your spandex, hence the mid bit. Is it not bolted to the prop in front of the rear diff? I don't think it's in the rear bumper which I call the rear of the car, it's not in the front bumper which I call the front of the car. It's middle(ish), sheesh!! ;)

there's no doubt it's in front of the rear diff but say it's mid-mounted is a bit of a stretch; it's not like people put the kids in the car via the middle doors or the dog goes in via the back door () :D

It's more towards the middle(ish) than the back as I said. :P

nah, it's under the back seats and between the back doors and nowhere near the middle of the prop

I don't think it's under the rear seats as the floor pan is there, darr!

You could probably get the 2.7 Bi-Turbo engine to fit fairly easily I would have thought, but I doubt you'd get a 4.2 V8 in easily.

How about a V5 or V6?

Yeah, but that will handle, well, like a Superb.

Bah.

:P

In an Octy II? Surely that's a bit pointless, is there a V5/V6 with more power than you can (reasonably) get out of a 20vT?

why do you think rear bench in a 4x4 is so heavy?

Your mate Andy  said it was under the back seats, try to read the post properly please. :P

How about the 3.6 V6 out the new passat R36 ?

i'm not his mate

The RS4 engine will never fit without a lot of modifying.

Even the TFSI engine in an A4 is mounted lengthwise and not (as in the Octi aswell as in the newer Superb) transversely.

The biggest engine to fit will be a V®6 with the HGP twinturbo conversion, as the platform of the Octi² and Superb² are similar to that of a Golf V.

In the old Superb you should be able to fit the older V6 RS4 engine (or with a little luck, even the newer V8).

i fancy teh R36 with a couple turbo's a blower myself :D

i'm not his mate

Hay, I don't want to get involved.
