Dogbone mount

Featured Replies

Anyone had any success stiffening the dogbone mount, then drilling or cutting or something to try to reduce some vibration?

I've got a modified standard mount but find it's putting too much vibration through the car at tick over. Any advice before I try butchering it?

Any modified mount needs time to "wear in" - if you find that it's too stiff try drilling some holes through it to reduce the stiffness.

Matt, it will take a few thousand miles to soften up and then will be much better believe it. Give it a chance, it is the softest polyurethene I put in them and I am well pleased with mine, but I was going to take it off after the first day!

Hope I don't sound too stupid, bare in mind I am a newbie. I was wondering why changing the engine mount is such a popular mod? What are the benefits?

Thanks Neal

/\ less engine movement so more power put onto the tarmac i believe

Also, when changing up to 3rd around a sweeping corner, it would not engage smoothly at all. After filling the engine mounts, that went away for some reason....

I've just thrown a vibra-technics one on mine with 6 tiny little holes in the main bush. Good vibrations but not hard enough to rattle the car to bits...
