owning both a VRS and a new 120d 177bhp I can assure you that the BMW does more than kick a standard VRS's backside and you wont match the BMW in twisties either, standard 0-62 in BMW 1 series is 7.6, max 143 stand vrs 9.6, max 129 (both book speeds).

I am sure a remapped VRS would better equiped but then the BMW driver could just remap his car to 214 bhp and you arrive at the same point.

On the whole both are good cars but there is like a 12k difference so is not really worth comparing.

PS anyone on here get left by a BMW 120d on the A45 it was a red VRS if so hello!!

I love my VRS hence the reason i kept it and took the BMW as a company motor.

Ye the 120d is a nice car. When funds allow I want a 123d. Had a go in one and was sold instantly. I could live with the BMW badge.

it's only 180 bhp for petrol.....they aren't that quick. you need them to be just shy of 300 to start imbaresing car's......theres a guy coming to see my fix my leon tomoro who built a mk3 one that was running 360 bhp.....

not entirely true...... if you get them to a good stage 2 set up then they can produce near on 250 bhp..... in a light car then it will as you say then make a mokery of other cars that cost alot more than it......

Im not saying that stage 2 is mega fast and it will see off ferraris etc etc stage 3 when you change the turbo and internals may do though......

As for the vrs vs the cupra..... imho the derv will edge forward slightly more as he has the torque there, and closer ratios, get the cupra mapped and you wont be anywhere near him imho......

Sorry to correct you. But I thought it was only mapped ones with a PD160 intake AND an aftermarket airfilter that could do that:D
