Anyone seen pictures of the facelift Scout?

Featured Replies

Skoda has anounced that the facelift will come to the Scout as well. Just wondering what that would look like...

Exactly the same as the normal facelifted estate pictures (lights and grille) that are on here with similar bumpers to now ?

I'm waiting to place an order for a Scout and have been told by two dealers that it isn't included in the facelift, could be because they want me to place an order as soon as possible (one has a car in the showroom).

I'd be grateful for any information regarding the Scout facelift and pictures if available.

You're probably correct in your thinking, unless they genuinely don't know.

If you order one now as in model year 09 you'll get a current shape Scout but if you wait until later next year you'll get a facelift Scout, they'll be facelifting the vRS at the same time.

I like some of the extra touches of the facelifted octavia, (bi-xenons, bolero radio...) but at the moment am struggling to picture what the exterior re-design will look like for the Scout. It could end up looking a bit silly and not as rugged... :o

I like the way the Scout looks now, I think the facelift Scout will modernise (if that's even a word) it and it will still look like an Octavia Scout but will look new.

They are also making the facelifted Scout with the 160bhp 1.8TSi engine, which is going to be lovely, I'd want that in that new Aqua Blue with a remap... Hmmm....

I checked with the online car configurator, and the new scout is available. It's old pictures, though, but the new 1.8T is available: Bygg din Skoda (in Norwegian :) . Click "velg" and choose the Octavia, and the Scout will show up in the list)

Yes, looks like it's available on the Norwegian site, I assume by FSI they actually mean TSI? I note also that the 4x4 is shown as available in Elegance trim for the 1.8 TSI, is that a departure from the current model? I didn't think the pre-facelift was available in 4x4 other than the Scout but SUK have now updated their car configurator to remove the Octavia other than the VRS so cannot check?

I can confirm that Elegance has been available with 4x4 with the previous model. It has been one of the most popular configurations in Norway, due to icy winters and bad roads. However, diesel has been the market leader for the last years because of how the government has changed the taxes for diesel cars.

The pictures used in the Norwegian car configurator showing the Scout are pictures of the Scout you'll get if you order now (2009 model year). They will however be available with the 160 ps petrol turbo engine. Not sure about the interiors, new radios, steering wheels etc. Would be a shame if you got the old interior etc if you order a 2009 Scout..

I've been told that the Scout and VRS are going to look the way they do now at least untill you can order a 2010 model.

Have the Scouts been poor sellers. On the Skoda approved site there are a lot for sale at prices of the standard 2l 4x4 tdi. In fact the 2.0tdi also seem better value than the 1.9tdi 4x4 as a used buy.

in my opinion a very understated car- i hope the new(facelifted) model has the tdi 170 cr engine..they could also chuck in park assist-lane assist-

electric folding wing mirrors and a pano roof..otherwise i am well pleased with mine- it also holds the road better in my opinion better than the vrs despite the higher profile (ok so it has the haldex clutch )

Not sure about that. The standard 4x4 might have options on them but I was expecting it to be pretty well replaced by the Scout, since there is only a grand or so difference when new. Other than ground clearance is there any significant difference between the 2 anyway?

Still torn between one of these in a year or so and the Superb estate when it arrives.

While people are thinking Scout - I did have a question

Despite the higher ground clearance compared to normal estate is the suspension system more rugged / durable?

Yep - the standard 4x4 is less "blingy" in terms of off-road addenda and black plastic and is a bit more "stealth" which, in my opinion, is much better.:D

I beg to differ, quite a few folks have been taken with the Scouts "Allroad aping" appearance and the "off road addenda" covers everywhere my Mk1 Octy picked up stone chips from winter roads and farm tracks. Horses for courses and all that! I certainly wouldn't be without the lovely metal engine guard either and the extra 17mm clearance can only be a good thing .

There's a few Scout's between here and Peebles (well 3 including mine at any rate) though they are all Satin Grey (perhaps all ex-demo's?)

The springs on the Scout are much stiffer than a normal Octy to counteract the bodyroll of being up high and has a quick rebound (can make quite a noise if you take speedbumps a bit quick). Makes for a surprisingly good handling car (much better than my Mk 1). I would doubt if this setup is significantly burlier for off road use, just don't go hammering it and all will be fine, the WRC boys still break suspension!!

For the last wee while SUK has been offering Scouts brand new for 4x4 prices in an attempt no doubt to generate sales in the face of a slowdown. I can only imagine sales hungry dealerships wanting to shift 2nd hand stock will have to do something similar to increase the chances of a sale against their competitors.

The Scout is an excellent car, of course I would say this because I bought one, but given all the facts & figures it really is a do-it-all car for very little money especially looking at the nearly new market, I have only seen one other on the road which is kind of nice in a way making the Scout a little unique. There does seem to be quite a few on the 2nd hand market but you have to remember that there were only a 1000 bought to the UK & are still mostly unheard of & an aquired taste, what I mean by that is some people may see it as a full-time 4x4 & run a mile!

I think the new Superb Estate in Scout/4x4 guise would be a good move, this could then compete with the likes of Audi's Allroad & Volvo's XC90 for space & comfort, they would need to look at putting the 170CR in & maybe look at some kind of adaptive suspension to compete properly.

As you say horses for courses...

I just prefer the look withthout the black plastic which I think is getting a bit past it?

The extra ground clearance is good - yes - but personally I wouldn't use it much (m 4x4 was bought for a safer commute across the Pennines in bad weather rather than it's off road ability)

And the 4x4 still has a sump guard from what I can see under the car.

I e-mailed SUK about the facelifted Scout and someone has just rung to say that the Octavia will be released in the UK (presumably to place orders) on December 10th with the Scout and vRS released around June 09.

The Norwegian site shows the current style body with what looks like the facelift interior. Maybe that's the stopgap until the full Scout facelift in June.
