Just want some curiosity curing... Following on from a thread on auto/manual boxes I thought about how feasible an automatix gearbox in a felicia would be?

Maybe something out of an old golf or similar?

Ive seen a couple of reviews on automatic 1.3 Fellys online, completely slagged them off as slow and extremely thirsty. Maybe a 1.6 would be OK. Not keen on autos myself (unless in a huge car with loads of grunt), but would like to try a DSG version, they sound interesting...

yeah maybe you could use a mk3 golf auto box from the 1.4/1.6 model but you would need the linkage as well, plus the drivesahfts are totally wrong

I think you'd be looking for a Golf auto, and probably a 1.8l 8v, cos the 1.6l was only made as an auto in the 75bhp tune, which isn't a lot more than a 1.3 HC Felly has, plus the engine and box are heavier.

Then you'd need a Felly auto pedalbox, and have to sort out the kickdown and full throttle changeup (which even manufacturers get wrong).

Would have been super nice and smooth to drive would nelly if she had an auto box in her.

If you want super smooth and minimal gear changes you have to drop a 20v turbo in it.
