TV in a Superb

Featured Replies

Hi folks.....I’m on the look out for a superb edition 100. Anyway, the sat nav unit can be used as a TV....has anyone actually seen a TV in a superb. Apparently you need a TV tuner......would be nice to get some peace and quiet and watch TV in the car....

The reception kills it tbh, I've got an eBay job in mine from China.

Hey, Thanks for the reply....you can get aftermarket TV tuners for the Sat Nav Unit? Did you install it yourself?

Also, can the standard sat nav play DVD's??

Silly questions I know!!!

I`ll have to see about getting the fridge for the rear armrest....

Na, I had a radio head unit, so I put a double din 7inch DVD unit in, proper name mobile entertainment unit  it has dvd,sd,usb, aux, analogue tv built in, the freeview box is pant's, hardly no reception, due to bad supplied ariel and transmission strength, not tried a direct analogue yet as the socket is a different type to the FV ariel, unit is neat though, all in on eBay for £210 inc delivery.

Have you got any pics of it? I'm quite interested in replacing mine for something like that!

Have got factory sat nav in my elegance. Don't have tv tuner but do have dvd player in boot. Pretty inpressed with pic on that.

Ben.

Skoda OEM unit.

SatNav Systems

Not cheap though.

Right then, you've had since 3:22am this morning, where are these photos?

I'd be interested to see it as well TBH, so my comment has a serious point, honest ;)

Ok ok, here ya are.

I quite like that, does it sit flush with the dash or does it stick out?

It's not a perfect fit without a cradle, but it can be put in secure without one, and the unit doesn't come with a cradle, it leaves a 2mm gap at one side though, so I used some black tape to cover it, it hardly shows and is a £40 cheaper option, it's a tight fit with all the input wires on the back in the dash, and to answer the question it's almost flush, but not at all like the slide out ones, 5mm max.

The best one to get is dearer but better value, it has sat/nav and 2 SD slots so you can run the nav and use the other stuff at the sametime, all have a USB port as well, I have this in the glovebox for tidyness. hth.

Oh, and it's also very powerful, 50x50 iirc, the rear window shakes when I crank it up. :o

Hmm, interesting.

Looks like some of the "cheap" Jap stuff is actually pretty good

Shame it doesn't support long filenames though... Windows 3.1, anyone?

Hey Superbia, I am interested in fitting a double din aftermarket screen similair to yours, at the moment i have the single din headunit and sliding draw.. Would i need an adaptor fascia or just remove the radio and draw and fit a double din cage. Many thanks.

Wow, that is some thread revival! I think the general consensus is that these units are pretty low tech and not great. Your better off saving and spending a bit more on better tech.

No, im looking at a clarion tv double din very good quality but before i make the step, i just need to know will i need any alternative surround to accomodate the tv or will it slot straight in there were my original single din radio and sliding draw is, i could wait but i would like to know beforehand!

As far as I know you will not need any additional bits. The surround comes off as it is just clipped on. I pulled mine off when I sprayed it silver. The drawer is just clipped in IIRC and the original stereo just pulls out but you will need some release keys. I did mine and if I remember correctly I just used some cut up credit card lol! It was a while ago and I have had a couple of cars since but I'm sure it was one of the easier ones!!

You will need a harness adaptor and you will need to separate one of the cable over so that the 12v isn't permanently on. Again, easy to do!

Oh the irony !

Thanks.
