Warranty on interior trim

Featured Replies

A 'bubble' has appeared on the interior driver's door panel on my 2006 Octy:thumbdwn:. I took it to the local dealer to ask for it to be fixed under warranty but they told me that the warranty only covers the interior for 1 year, and not 3 years.

Does anybody know if this is true?

Grumble grumble grumble (see link)

I'll let you know how I get on after wednesday

Thanks - I hadn't seen the other thread but it seems that I have the same problem as others have had. It would be interesting to know if anyone has had a door card replaced under warranty after the first year.

Hi, I have this problem (even worse, the bubble has burst !) when I took the car to the dealers I was told that this was a common problem and Skoda Ireland had extended the warranty on this problem by an extra two years (thats 4 in total) but there was a mileage limit (100,000kms) which I have well exceeded. The part alone is approx. 400euros so I would persist with your dealer or get onto Skoda UK.

ask them to kindly show you this where it is documented

Our Octy warranty from 10/05 until this October covered everything, even to the small bright strip on the dash top box .

I have just had my gearstick replaced on waranty due to the paint coming off and my car is over 2yrs old so should think you should be able to get the door card done too.

Thanks everybody. It seems like the stealers were being 'economical with the truth'. They did very helpfully give me a quote for £370 to replace the door card, which I declined to accept...

The car has only done 14,000 miles so I don't think this constitutes 'fair wear and tear'.

same here, had mine changed at MOT time when it peeled a week before!

I've had two of those dash top box silver strips, one of which was only days from the end of the three year warranty.

Don't know what the warranty states in your country but here in Malta we have 3 years on all Skud's here in Malta unlimited mileage.Common problem on Octavia's door cards bubbling.

Mine has also bubbled on the door top, but my car is out of warranty. The cause is resting your elbow there whilst driving, the movement of your elbow detaches the cover from the insides of the panel. The only way to avoid it, is to not rest your elbow there.

Called the dealer that I bought the car from, and they say that this is covered by the 3-year warranty:). I am taking it in tomorrow so they can look at it to make sure they order the correct part.

So it would seem that the first dealer I went to was lying:eek:!

Would you believe it?!

New door card ordered today, to be fitted next week under warranty:thumbup:.

I have had two replaced under warranty, along with the bright bar on top of the dash and the drivers door handle (both those caused bleeding with cuts from the chrome plate lifting, mind you what hasn't been replaced on my car!!!

Ok so who's the nearest to north wales thats had theirs replaced under warranty, Looks like I will have to change dealers

We had a member in portugal (began with B) who had the same, and dealer did it under warranty no questions.

IIRC there was mention that it affected a range of cars built within certain dates.
