where did you get the pipes from mate??? or what size and number of bends are there?

thanks

I thought you got the Golf FMIC?

With all the money you saved the drinks are now on you.

*cough* Er ok i could stretch to one for you if you make the 300 mile trip to my local lol.

Very nice FMIC tho. Put a kit together and start selling it to us lazy owners! Your company name could be 'Forged'! .

"Forged".. love it :rofl::rofl:

I bought a kit which consisted of

(2) 90 degrees Mandrel Bent Pipes, (2) 75 degrees Mandrel Bent Pipes, (2) 45 degrees Mandrel Bent Pipes, (2) Straight Pipes, (8) silicone Straight Couplers, and (16) stainless steel Clamps.

All pipes were 24" long and came from a seller called ZENARACING on ebay. I have looked for the pipes again but cannot find them. I have a lot of pipes spare but buying it in kits is a cheap way to do this.

If you don't want to buy the kit i used the following.

2x 90 degrees Mandrel Bent Pipes

1x 75 degrees Mandrel Bent Pipes

1x 180 degree pipe

1 yard of straight pipe

1x Map sensor pipe from forge

7x straight silicone couplings

14x stainless clamps

All pipes were 24" long but will need to be cut down and re-beaded.

These pipes should fit an intercooler size: 550mm x 140mm x 65mm, Overall length: 690mm. shorter intercoolers will require an extra joiner.

Its a little tight where it exits the flat pipe ( pancake pipe??) near the wheel arch as it comes out at a strange angle but should pull round enough to go round the back of the radiator.

Cuz i bought the kit off turbo revs on ebay but i sold it as i did not want the pipes going over the engine and relocating the DV.... so you had yours made custome?

They were already bent to various angles as it was a universal pipe kit. I just cut to size with a hacksaw and put a new bead round with this little beauty which i knocked up.

I copied this design from one of the Audi sites.

We farmers really know how to bodge, but i works a treat.

looks like a good setup mate what we need is someone to sell the kit to us :)

theres one you can get for the Ibiza Cupra thats similar on ebay :)

Yes i'm sure there would be profit in it, there are plenty for the Golf.

Nice job ...for Forge intercooler pricing , send us an e mail ...

please remember the like for like comparrisons , the Forge intercooler has a internally optimised air fin construction ( same as used on Porsche and on the RS4s ) the turbolaters inside the air core are the important factor in the cooling , its not all about how cool ...you have to consider how fast it cools etc , Also please dont forget we have tested the intercooler installation and applications with more than one type of air core , also different options for piping , the Forge intercooler is internally baffled in the end tanks to ensure the air transition is over the full length of the air core for optimal cooling effect , so please do not beleive the disinformation that may be apparently out there .....cheers

But £916.15 inc. vat for an intercooler....

Have a Christmas sale!

Don't get me wrong, I love your products, and I appreciate that you get what you pay for generally. But personally I could never justify spending that money.

Here here even ABD kit is extortionate!!!

The only thing is the kit i did not like how the kit fitted as advised by the coffin dodger (;)) ....

but if one of the ebay kits had a direct fit similar to yours it would be game on for under a fourth of the forge price!

Nice job ...for Forge intercooler pricing , send us an e mail ...

(SNIP)

As I've said... is the Forge intercooler really worth what is apparently £700 more?

Does the customer get £700 worth of value out of getting your intercooler kit over building one themselves?

I don't doubt the quality of the stuff, nor the work that has gone into the R&D of it. But for the consumer, is the Forge kit worth the extra over a "generic DIY" job?

Is there any back-to-back real-world data suggesting a difference either way, for example?

Please don't think I'm having a go, I've just always struggled to figure out why certain products from many manufacturers are so much when you can DIY it yourself for so much less.

What is that in plain English????

What did you not like, are we talking the ABD one, the wrong Golf one you bought for your Octy, the Forge one????

Thanks,

I know you guys offer quality products and have much higher overheads such as staff, premises, advertising, research etc. So your prices will always be a lot higher than the average Joe knocking something up in his garage.

Perhaps you could offer some incentives to buy your products, over on SCN you offer a 10% discount to members why not here?

IMHO the forge is a good bit of kit, I must admit that since fitting there is more vibration and under accel it feels rougher for sopme reason with the forge.

If you want the forge one or even enquiring just PM them:thumbup: and they will tell you the price as the £900 one is ott as the most ive seen them for is 830ish then you get £100 back when you send ur crashbar back.

I got the forge over summer and got a good deal imo and the only thing I was miffed about was the time it took to get it as was prommised 2week and it took a month nearly. but who cares for the price!

THANKS FORGE!

I for one would not be happy cutting the crash bar, it is dangerous imo. If your happy to do this and loose some front end collision strength that's fine.

Personally if i had the cash i would go for the ABD kit, no crash bar cutting required, its a single pass cooler and not too big.

The forge one is not really cut, all they do is put 4 or 5 holes in the bottom of the U bit to allow a bit of air up to the top of the cooler, cant see it makin any diff to the strength. Unless you cut it so the hole thing is in view.

I don't see the point in having a cooler which is part covered with the crash bar.

lol fair but least it saves puttin pipes round the back or over the top

it keeps the simmilar places ot the std one

very true it certainly looks an easy fit.

Any piece of metal that you cut or drill holes in is then weakened, and especially on the front crash bar, as its called that for a reason.

The reason I went for the ABD racing FMIC was that it fitted without any cutting and fitted neatly behind the centre grill, and more importantly, it worked.

Fitting a FMIC that is too large for the turbo will just increase lag, so unless your going down the big turbo route and the expense that is involved with it, then FMIC's such as the ABD Racing ones are quite sufficient.

there is that.

must say though that I feel the lag is about the same and good thing is If I do go big turbo I am one step closer.

I have the Forge one and it was pretty easy to fit.

I agree universal ones that you have to source your own pipework for is a good option if you have the time and are handy with certain tools.

and come on who every pays full price for the Forge or any other one!

I got mine in a group buy for a lot less than you think!

I just PM them and then bartered a bit too,

one thing is they were very trusting as i dint pay the £100 extra for the crashbar and they were not in a hurry to get my one back. ended up takin it on my way home one week.

I have just looked at the Forge site and I nearly SHAT myself:O

the FMIC has gone up to £916.50 inc VAT

WOW when I got mine a few month ago it was only about £800 all in.

glad I got one when I did

The crash bar is not weakend by the alteration if you look you will see we actually add in some strength . The pipe run is very short less lag ,less pressure drop , we have test data for our intercooler which is up to 30 degrees cooler than stock . ..Briskoda members get 10 % discount off all Forge and Silicon hoses .com products.

The intercooler is good for standard turbo or bigger turbo , it requires no cutting to fit and yes it works as well , the products is also warrantied for LIFE , thats even if you buy the car with the Forge on ...its still covered or if you buy one second hand ....still covered

...if you need pricing PM me
