Cheers mate. It had just been waxed with Zymol after a mate retired from his car valeting business. I liked the wax so Googled it, £17,000 for 4 litres with free refills for life, didn't buy any at that price, back to Maguires Stage 3

Love it :)

Great condition too

Indeed. Very nice example.

Do you go to their owner clubs/outings?

Looks stunning that, a fine example.

I used to go to classic car shows and MMOC annual events, but it was same old same old after a couple of years, so just use it for fun runs now really.

A few facts about the car for those interested in classic. Restored in 1997 by John Merrit at Mid Sussex Minors. Modifications include front disc brakes, alternator, Mountney Steering Wheel, various gauges, stainless exhaust, Kobi gas dampers front and rear, electronic ignition, electronic fuel pump, Minilite Alloys.

Fairly nippy in traffic 1098 engine 50BHP, Free Road Tax :D

Best thing is, no diagnostic socket, you simply hit it with a big hammer, swear, and it works again.

Now that's what I'm talking about - A real car!

Very tidy... A*

very clean... look after that one!

Me like...

I'm a great advocate of the 'Big Hammer' school of mechanics.

Did an engine and gearbox swap on one of those (mine) cough years ago took just under an hour to take out the old one instal the new-ish one and drive off  .....progress is a wonderful thing ehh

Forgot to mention all done with the aid of a tractor and front loader....couldn't get or afford an engine hoist back then

That's nice. Do you think you could squeeze a Rover V8 under the bonnet? ;)

That looks pristine, it's nice to see them still. It's a car thats always had a place in my heart yet I've never owned one but would love to own one someday.

Wow that looks brand new.

It probably never looked that good new.

Is that a period satnav?

Ah...so now we get where the username comes from. :D

Very nice indeed.

My friends dad used to restore/work on these for a living, he even rallied one, great cars, and a rare sight these days. :)

Stunning is a word to say to it!

My Grandad had one of them for his first car and wishes he had another one to drive.

He says it was the easiest car he has driven and to work on.

Are you per-chance 'The' Mr Grumpy, of Grumpy parts kits fame? If so there are a few of your kits on the Moggy :D

Thanks to everyone for the great comments. The car does get pampered and is spoiled rotten, aka open bonnet and throw £20 notes into the engine bay :D

Only down side is if you pop out for a pint of milk in the Moggy, and meet someone walking their dog, that used to own a Moggy. You can be there for a couple of hours.

Beautifully kept car

Can't beat a bit of wood on the outside of a car.

Looks very nice and the wheels give it a slightly meaner stance.

Agree with one of the previous comments about fitting a Rover V8 or a Ford V8 - would make a neat Q car.

Is that a period satnav?

Probably, so it won't show any motorways

:D

Oh and CJB & jlwah; it's been done, more than once. A mate of mine used to have one (with uprated suspension), and used to humiliate Jaguars on the A82 up and down Loch Lomond back in the day. :D

Regarding a bigger engine. I have seen two minors with the V8 Rover Sd1 shoe horned in. Several with the Fiat Twin Cam engine, all very rapid. There's a company called JLH restorations who specialise in custom Minors. They do the Rover K Series, and Ford V-Tech transplants, with five link rear suspension, coilover front suspension, but it isn't cheap (quality work never is.)

Above link will show more about my little Traveller, and also links to the Alternative Moggy Forum

I do like the old A Series 1098 engine though, it's got some torque for such an old design, parts are cheap as chips, and it's a doddle to work on, compared to the modern stuff. Mine is midly tuned, but nothing too exciting, that's where the VRS comes in. :D

ISTR the worst bit (in the days before JLH kits) was doing the new engine and 77mm box mounts. Now getting the V8 into a Chevette took a bit of work!

They should have thrown in the tub of wax free
