Other Questions on Using LPG.......

Featured Replies

...........when running a car on LPG is it advisable to run out of LPG now and then to allow the car to run on petrol as I believe LPG wont lubricate the engine like petrol. Also there is no place on my " New " motor for the spare wheel due the the tank being fittet in the wheel well therefor Instead of having the spare just thrown on the back I was going to get one of the canisters of stuff that re-inflate the tyre when you get a puncture "Are they any good" "Do they re-inflate the tyre hard enough" "Is it a permanent repair" and can it fix a 2"/3" gash..........Thanks

Don't know about the LPG stuff, but you could have your tyres treated with a product like UltraSeal which you put in before you get a puncture. It re-seals the tyre as the puncture happens. Doesn't work with low profile tyres though.

LPG. yes it is advisable to run on petrol from time to time as the gas has no lubrication in it. the injector seals can dry up and depending on what system you are running and on what engine also the stem seals etc etc.

most modern systems start up on petrol until warm and then switch over. but i dare say a run of 20 or 30 miles every or other week would mean a little more longetivity out of your system.

No tin of tyre repair is going to be a permanent fix, and it won't be fixing a 2" gash for certain.

You'll find the car does start up on petrol anyway, so I wouldn't be worrying about it. :)

Is there not a switch on the dash to turn LPG on/off anyway?? Is it a Volvo fit or an aftermarket job??

It's an aftermarket fit, A Romano multi jet " N " and yes I can switch from LPG to petrol at anytime. The car does start on Petrol then automatically runs on LPG. I was just thinking about lubricating the Engine from time to time

Well the engine will be adequately lubricated on start up I would think, but for peace of mind just do 10 miles or so on petrol every so often. :)
