I said it before, but Tinfoil ;)

And it doesnt scratch as you might think.

Did you use any wire wool?

I would also suggest another top tip........get a swiss army knife or something similar and run it around the inside of the pipes and it will break up all those large soot deposits.........

Tried that (i.e certain parts from a Rifle Cleaning Kit which bear in mind can get off Baked on Carbon after firing thousands of rounds through)

Not tried wire wool but if the bits of a RCK cant get it off then i cant see that working. Is there no product like WonderWheels? i.e wonderzorst  that you just spray on leave 2 mins then wipe of??

Not that I am aware of mate but I am surprised you couldn't get the soot off in the insides of the exahust tip as the swiss army knife always work for me and I have done some shocking exhaust pipes...............

bit of a problem there. the lowest rank working with me is CSgt/SSgt same as me so might find it difficult:rolleyes:. Ill just get Baker to do it he seems to be in the know :D

My advice would be to clean/polish it everytime you wash the car, that way you dont get the build up. :)

im gonna try the swiss army trick next time as i can only get my fingers so far into the exhaust with wire wall and brasso cloths.

next question - do the swiss army actually carry knives?

Seriously though i do do it every time i clean the car. However with my Job i don't have the luxury of being able to clean my car as often as i would like too.

Always glad to help :D

Have you tried WD40?

Also, fine wet and dry would be worth a go. Maybe start at 800 grit and work up to 1400. Then Autosol with a micro fibre.
