maxi dot

Featured Replies

How much would it cost to have maxi dot installed on a classic tdi, as i would like to see how many miles I have left in the tank

Doesnt a car without maxidot do that? SWMBO's 8 year old Fabia classic does

I would have thought so too. My vRS doesn't have Maxidot but still tells me how many miles I've got left.

Mine too.

Not sure if a classic has the fuel computer as such.

AFAIK the classic doesn't have the computer so you'd need the righthand stalk with the buttons and may well need a steering controller depending on which is fitted to your car.

Does it not work on the trip reset button? Ie press to select, hold to reset?

Does anyone have an idea of the price????

For a maxidot probably circa £250 - £300 plus the stalk and the steering controller if needed.

Just had a reply from the dealer, who says maxi dot cannot be fitted as its a factory fit item, cruse can be fitted for £350 +VAT.

Now the thing is I can get the parts from my local scrappy so what would I need to remove apart from the dash and the right hand stalk

The Dashpod would have to be brand new, they can only be programmed once as all the information from your car as to be copied over for your mileage etc. and it has to be done with VAS at the dealers. AFAIK it can't be done with VCDS (Vag-Com) it also contains the imobiliser and your keys have to be coded in aswell prices for fitting at dealers seems to be between £30-£60 but thats not including the stalk or any other parts you may need.

Yes, it can be done with VCDS also, but you'll need the SKC's from both dashpods. These cannot be obtained from the dealer anymore as they don't see them either. The new VAS system automatically gets the SKC's and copies the information from one dashpod to another without user ever seeing the codes.
