Grrrrrrrrr, still fuming now, i was refused petrol last night when we pulled up there as i couldnt tell the woman exactly how many litres of fuel i was putting in my car, three quarters of a tank wasnt good enough for her and still dressed im my work gear i was accused of being dressed in a threatening manner and refused to serve me. Good job I wasnt down to the last litre as the nearest garage from there at night is 5 miles the oppersite direction at Tescos (where we had just done the shopping). grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Please say that you got her details? - I do hope that there was a manager to talk to about this.

Dressing in a threatening manner? What on earth were you wearing?

were you wearing a gimp suit? lol. kick up a huge fuss and get the bint sacked. merry christmas :D

Why would you need to pre order the amount of petrol you require?

That is the oddest thing i've heard in a while. she wanted to know exactly how much fuel you wanted, and you were dressed in such a way that she felt threatened?

Did refusing fuel to someone who already feels threatening seem like a good idea to her?

Unless your a lumberjack and had your chainsaw strapped to your waist, i can't think what else you might have wore that was threatening. Get the bint sacked.

Why did you have to state how much fuel you wanted?

Has there been some sudden rush for fuel, leading to rationing or something

Can only assume it's a new policy to prevent drive-offs.

Dressed something like this?

i was dressed in my work gear which consists of steel toe cap boots, black cargo trousers with company logo on the side pocket, works ma2 style bomber jacket with company logo across the breast and a woolie hat with company logo in bright orange on the front. had my works id hanging around my neck on a lanyard (and yes with company logo on that too). the car was my car which was clean and valetted (so no visable dirt on it) and very clean number plate.

I will probably pop in there on monday as i know the manager is only normally about in the morning, plus i will be in works clothing (same as fridays) so he can see if i am threatening then.

Already emailed shell and await a reply as they will have records of my vpower transactions and can see how often i use that particular station.

Who do you work for? Based on the description of your 'work gear' I'm guessing some IRA type splinter group or Combat 18

You weren't in your KKK oufit again????????????

On a serious note, you could have a compalint on the grounds of Direct Discrimination as you were refused goods or service. I am assuming that you are an Anglo Saxon male and she was a female of a non white back ground??

Perhaps she thought that the vehicle you were in was a works car...................

how odd.

that does seem very odd:rofl:

I have previously been asked to pre-pay for fuel.. It was late at night on a Sunday in the middle of Nottingham. I didn't know how much fuel I wanted, so I said 5 litres, paid for that, and then put 45 in.

The lass didn't stop the pump when I went over, so I really didn't see the point in making me pre-pay. It meant that I had to use my card twice, and surely would have cost them twice for the transaction?

I didn't mouth off, but I made a point of telling her that it was a stupid idea and I wouldn't be re-visiting that particular filling station. Meh :)

 i was thinking of going back in on monday and fill up (wearing my works gear as usual) and then ask for the manager and ask him if im dressed in a threatening manner

Go dressed like this:

the thing is, if you went in dressed as a chainsaw wielding maniac you would get served becuase they would just assume you are on the way to a fancy dress party

I have only been to one garage where you had to pay for how much fuel you wanted and that was in Manchester after a 6 in the evening. In the States it's widely used to prevent drive offs. I would go tback to the garage on Monday and ask to see a copy of the companies policies on customers dress code and pre paying for fuel procedures.

I'd have started opening goods in the shop and eating them saying i was starving hungry, but not had enough fuel to get home so i had to eat in the shop, but as they won't accept my threatening cash it would have to be free.

Wonder how long before the pump was turned back on...?

the door was locked had to use the silly window thing, would have been interesting if a customer was on the premises when she lost the plot.

NZ petrol stations have buttons on them where you have to select one of $5,$10,$15 or $20, or Fill before the pump will work.

There are a lot of petrol stations who insist on pre-pay (or credit card at the pump) because they've had a lot of drive-offs recently when fuel prices were high.

They usually take one look at my car and turn on the pump as it's not a 15 year-old Subaru being driven by a 15 year-old :D

are you not over reacting to this there could be 1001 different reasons to ask you this question.
