Oh dear.

Try the local Police stn and the club too !!!!!

Why did you have your keys on you if you were getting drunk?

you silly boy!

Why did you have your keys on you if you were getting drunk?

Cos' he drove too the function.:confused:

Whats the crime commited there then .

Serves you right, you tory *******.

;)

Who said there was a crime? I merely asked why he would have a car key on him while drunk?

And for the record i've been stopped by police when i've been walking home and checked for car keys incase i felt the urge to drive.....

Despite being drunk i was able to point out the irony of walking because i didn't have my car, and not having car keys on me anyhow as i was out drinking.

I bet that taxi seems like a cheaper option now though?

I can't see what your issue is with having keys on you whilst drunk tbh.

The problem arises when someone gets in the car and drives as we all know, so until such times as this happens there really is no problem is there. As for being stopped thats just plain ridculous and the police that stopped you must have been bored/young/jobsworths and should be done for wasting your time. :)

I know what your saying, but there is two potential problems with having your keys on you when your drunk.

1) We're all aware how being drunk affects our judgement and we sometimes do things we wouldn't dream of when sober.... like maybe jumping into a car while intoxicated because you 'feel alright'. Not having a key on you would remove this poor judgement?

2) Most people are a bit careless when drunk and are more likely to lose money/mobile phones and other expensive items to replace, such as keys..... as this thread proves?

I'm not suggesting that the OP would have driven home drunk, but at this time of year when people are celebrating and taxi's are scarse/expensive its more common.

Expensive mistake IMO.

It is stupid but a mate of mine got a year ban because he was drunk and in his car sleeping it off. He had delibrately put his keys in the boot so he wouldnt be tempted to drive off when still drunk, he just wnted to keep warm rather than sleeping in the gutter.

I suppose I'm only seeing this from ny point of view, it's just me being sensible (strange that :rofl:)but I have never in my life thought about trying to drive whilst drunk, I do have a mate who hands his keys too someone of gives them too the bar staff as he freely admits if he got them he'll use them.

Thats one of the reasons I keep my car key seperate from house keys. The other one being that I can't lose the car key when drunk.

Like Ross, I've heard of people getting done for being in their car while drunk, even when not having any intention of driving. "Drunk in charge of a motor vehicle", I think.

I wonder if you would be at risk in a camper van ?

.

I wonder if you would be at risk in a camper van ?

Good question

I doubt it because you can go on holiday and get ****faced then return to your campsite and sleep in your campervan

I do know a few people who use campervans on the soul scene and get permission from the venue to kip in their van on the carpark after a hard nights soulin

dont know if anyone has been done by the police for doing this....yet

Like i said, not everyone would drive if they had their keys, but some do.

If i drive to a location that sells beer, i won't drink a drop and the car comes home with me.

If i'm out on the beer i take a house key and the car key stays in the house.

Just my way of ensuring it never gets lost and i don't go to my car for any reason (i always keep a jacket in the boot) and get locked up for it.

As a Tory I would have thought you have followed your beloved leader and used a bike, Merry Xmas peace on earth.

I thought everyone who drank at a conservative club club had a chauffeur to take them home.

IIRC You can be done with being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle if you have your keys on you if u are drunk and happen to be arrested for drunk and disorderly or something....

Maybe thats whay they asked me if i was carrying my car keys

Although i wasn't being disorderly, just drunk

Haha you guys have gone on. Ok, my new girlfriend is bar manager in the club and lives round the corner. I live 30 miles away! Makes sense to drop my car on the carpark and walk to hers! Oh, found the keys! Woohoo!!!

good news

I don't think anyone was suggesting you were up to no good- but it makes an interesting discussion.

That's exactly what I do. I did used to have a drink (maybe a shandy), but to be honest, I never enjoy it, so I don't bother now. Actually, I hardly ever drive if I'm going to a place that serves beer. That's what buses, taxis, or walking are for.
