RR results for bluefin vrs tfsi

Featured Replies

got her on the rollers at engine tuner, in plymouth today, i was expecting bluefins estimate of 41 bhp extra to be optimistic,

so you can imagine i was well chuffed when she put 241bhp at the flywheel so 44bhp extra was an absolute treat. :D(just over 200bhp at the wheels as well:))

the torque was up to 249Ib ft with a big peak at 3250.

the only extra mods are the forge diverter valve, and pipercross filter.

i must admit im well chuffed with that result and amlookin forward to the turbo back exhaust and carbon intake, then stage 2 remap. 280bhp here we come. printout attached(hopefully)

BHP is good. But you can get better Torque with other Remaps. (around 285+ with revo for example)

Just make sure you don't have any big loads in the car as that knackered my clutch and had to get a better one put in.

very true with the torque, but its wasted in 1st and 2nd cos any more and it will spin the wheels to easily, my power and torque seems quite accessable without loss of traction.(unless its wet)

ill get a quaife or peloquin diff before the exhaust and stage 2 map though.

Hmmmm.... very interesting figures! Might be interested in a Bluefin myself. I've been got a Miltec cat back system & a Carbonio induction kit & looked at an APR or Revo remap, but I guess the December offer makes this very good value. I would also prefer a less aggressive remap, as I need to think about whole life costs an not just head line power/torque, so the Bluefin ticks that box too. The other advantage is I have 2 Superchips dealers within 15 miles of me, so no shortage of local expertise if needed!

if you have the exhaust and CAI intake, you can get yours remapped to stage 2 for no extra cost over the stage 1.

i spoke to the bluefin technician on the phone about what would happen to the map if i changed the intake and exhaust, and he said just phone them up and they wil send you the new remap across the internet for no extra cost over the original map. he reckons you are looking at 265-280bhp

Hi Simon - thanks for the RR update and feedback on the Bluefin installed on your 2.0TFSi. I only got Bluefin last week and thus far i'm impressed with the traction (except when wet) and smooth application of torque and power from low revs. I only have a pipercross filter in addition to the Bluefin - but the car does now feel truly fast.

2009 - should see my EVOMs fitted, plus uprated diverter valve, turbo back exhaust and then some handling tweaks i reckon.

Cheers,

Ste.

not a problem, mate. i have the same mods in mind as well. rear anti roll bars first. followed by the LSD, which i think will improve the car much more for the money than pefomance mods.making the power more accessable especially under cornering.

then exhaust and intake, possibly even the forge twintercooler and fuel pump, but bit by bit

im just trying to bed my brakes in now before i give them the good news and trial them out

yea mate looks nice. the torque thing is bit low imo as I got a mk1 and custom remap and got 226 bhp and 260 ftlb?????

i prob would have gone for revo in all honesty had i been in uk working, but im in germany nearly all year round and bluefin was perfect cos i could do it myself. when i go to stage 2 i might look at getting revo map though.

The GTi boys are getting quite a lot of support from SC with these, a new map was released yesterday in fact.

Also the current offer has been extended through January.

One thing I do think you should bear in mind, Bluefin is a great product aimed at a specific market. If you are chasing the numbers then it probably isn't the product for you.

does anyone know if you can update bluefin maps .

SC have been modifying the maps so yes.

Yes I noted a lot of good support on the MkV forum & a lot of positive comments too. I think you are right, Bluefin might not be the answer if you want the big numbers! But it could be just what I'm after! I feel a need to have a chat with them in between Christmas & new year (assuming thery are working). :D

Anyway, Happy Crimbo to you all!

yeah as it says a couple threads earlier, bluefin will send the updated map via the net, all they ask for is the bluefin handset serial no, and what has been done to the car to make sure the map will make the best of it

I'd say 265bhp tops with just stage 2, exhaust & CAI, no way 280bhp but you would get a nice gain in torque tho;)

Give Keith at JKM a bell Bruce, they are £39 cheaper than Superchips.

Even better! Guess I'll be on the phone on Monday! :D

You would need to upgrade the fuel pump for 280+ bhp. My mods( in my sig) have made 288bhp and 344lbft. As a comaprison on the same RR i made 236bhp with just a remapp so i think my figures are quite accurate.

Τhere's no need for an upgraded fuel pump for K03 set-ups, which cannot exceed 300 PS.The OEM pump is good for 330 PS with a K04 set-up.

Sorry for cutting in but this is what I witnessed on a RR day a few weeks ago.:):):)

There is a need for the fuel pump on the ko3 cars when you're going stage 2+ to achieve 280bhp as you will be hindered with fuel cuts. The k04 needs less energy to run than a k03 for the same amount of boost so less fuel is required to give it's higher peak bhp.

My friend's car,K03 stage 2,put out 296 PS,which is about 290 HP, with a stock pump. This is crankshaft power on the Dynatech, which in this part of the world is considered to be extremely strict. There are absolutely no fuel cuts whatsoever.

My car ,with only a ''Green'' free-flow filter and a Forge DV ,puts out 266 PS and 412Nm/m .I'm running about 130 bar fuel rail pressure on a stock pump.Needless to say, we all run 100 octane fuel and my friend and I both have a customised ecu upgrade.:):):)

No it didn't and no it won't, I'm affraid Micky32 is more on the right lines with this one matey ;)

:):):);)!

Are we to assume that Santa left you some Tuna Bruce?

How come you were at Alan Jefferys, Simon? :) He's my nearest place with a Dyno Dynamics RR, although I would still prefer to go to JKM really, if only it weren't so far.

When's the next JKM Briskoda day?! (Stu, Steve, Ian :P)
