RR results for bluefin vrs tfsi

Featured Replies

No not at all, no one I know of has ever complained about excess vibrations, it's well worth the small investment imo.

I've seen the difference it makes on an RR test we did a while back, my car had one and Chris's didn't and the ammount of engine movement without it was quite amazing. Needless to say Chris bought and fitted one a couple of days later.

Lets just say it scared the cr*p out of me seeing the engine move so much.

Was that with the bluefin stage 1 or stage 2 map?

Good Question!!! AFAIK it will just be the new stage 1 map relased at the end of December. It was the one it downloaded automatically anyway, and I hadn't told them of the other modifications!

A word of warning on buying DP and CAT - The DP flexi is a very weak point on these systems so when you buy make sure it is going to be covered under the warranty. I know makefish had one replaced and I seem to remember that shifty got through a couple or three and I have heard of others. Miltek now supply the dogbone bush with their system to try and combat it.

It was seeing others experiences that has delayed me going for this at the moment! However I know that Milltec have been very good at trying to help resolve this.

Agreed!!!!!! This is now a top priority for me too as i was stunned at the movement! Can anyone tell me how difficult or easy this to do? is it a DIY job etc?

The engine moves quite a bit even standard. My engine doesn't move as much as my old modded TDI though and it never broke anything including the Milltek and had 200k on it when i sold it.

Are the both the Nuspeed and ECS bushes for the same part or are they different? one says torque arm the other "dog bone"

If it is the same part which one is better?

If they are different parts then should you have both?

Cheers

Ron

They are one and the same part Ron, either one will do the job :)

Fitting is well within your capabilities Bruce.

Thanks Stu, now ordered! Now all I need is a dry day at the weekend & temperatures just above freezing :P

Just ordered one myself and hopefully save what might be left of my Milltek :o

Don't quote me on this but I wouldn't be surprised if you are a Milltek owner that they will send you a bush out, it's in their interest to prevent warranty claims.

Had to pay for it with JKM, they said nothing about it but it's cheap anyway. To be honest the Milltek exhausts are appalling.

Funny that i was thinking the same thing. The welding on the exhaust looks like its been done by a 16 yr old..

I'll give you the rundown on mine. I fit the exhaust. When the car was idling i could hear that hole in the exhaust hum. The centre box where the pipe attaches was leaking as there wasn't enough weld on it, fair enough i thought so i put a spot of weld in the area and it was ok. It still didn't sound right and further inspection revealed that ALL the joints where the pipes join were leaking no matter how tight the clips were.

So i got some paste and it seemed to seal the joints. Then the next problem occurs. I noticed one day that the 2 pipes at the back were crooked so up on the lift again loosened and straightened the back box and tightened it the best way i could and problem solved. But no it gradually over about 1500 miles goes crooked again. So starting to get fed up i straightened it again and put a spot weld on the joint so it won't move again, great i thought.

The other morning i start the car and i hear the fluttering noise again i look underneath and i see condensation blowing out of one of the joints again! I just don't know what to do but i'm getting to the stage i'm going to loose the head with it

Hmm i was really keen to get my miltek system. that has put me off alot. i got a quote from blueflame who do have off the shelf systems for the mk2 vrs and they undercut the miltek. i wonder if they will have the same problems

I've not had any probs with mine at all and its been on for around 27k miles

Wow! I think I've been lucky then! Mine has been fine although the guys who fitteded had to adjust it a couple of times so that the tail pipes were aligned correctly! Other than that I've been very pleased!
