Can someone tell me the gearbox code to my skoda octavia 1.9 SDI 2001 please, my gearbox was jumping out of 5th on motorway after inspection i found no fluid in the box. I put some in and it come straght back out. Obviously the oil seal inside the box has gone. Im tempted to pour some sealant inside to stop the leak but fear this isnt a permanant fix. Therefore im looking for a gearbox, i know that the A4 and Passat are the same but need the code, i havent got any manual with the car and the sticker has worn inside the boot. Someone help please, Thank you...

It is common for those gearbox`s to fail , sorry

Rivets break off and cause major failure

IIRC same as the 1.4 Golf and a major failure on the cars

I used to do warranty for Skoda and it was common for 2 or 3 gearbox`s within warranty period on Taxis

A4 and passat are not at all the same- you need a Golf/A3/Bora/Leon/Octy etc box- the engine/gearbox are not transverse on a A4/Passat.

The gearbox code will be on the sticker in the boot, or inside the service book.

You don't say where you are, but my son has just had the same problem on a TDi and we got sorted from a firm in Sheffield.

Very reasonable and had a load of boxes, just before xmas
