Rear window seals

Featured Replies

obviously the main problem with the rear doors leaking in water is the carrier behind the door card, but what about the window seals on the outside, have they modified these at all so that less water ends up inside the door in the first place ?

No need, you'll find plenty of helpful posts on here about re-sealing the doors, sadly it's a common problem (touch wood no issues with my furby) I take it the seals and or the carpets are wet?

You'd never be able to keep the water out unless it was completly sealed but then you wouldn't be able to open the window!! there are drain holes in the door so it should run out almost as quick as it comes in..

i dont intend to keep the water out completely, read my original post, im asking if they have ever been modified in design by Skoda ?

AFAIK the outer touch seals have not been changed/modified over the years. Very little water should get between these seals and the glass, but it obviously does on some cars.

Given the height of the carrier plate from the bottom of the door, I would suspect any water getting into the door, must drip directly onto the carrier plate lip, as it would take a lot of water to fill the door bottom up to the height of the carrier plate.

FWIW I use a product called DUM DUM to seal the carrier plate. It never dries out and is easy to work with.

i noticed yesterday when washing the car, those seals have a recess in them that actually holds water, what a stupid stupid design !!!

IIRC the front window seals dont have that recess to them, but i havent checked, they may have
