Loose cable underneath driver seat

Featured Replies

Whilst checking out every button, knob and lever in my car I discovered a loose hanging cable underneath the drivers seat. It has a black connector at the end which doesnt seem to go anywhere...

Does anyone know what this cable is?

Does the RS come with heated seats? I've got no cables at all under my seat, but then it is only a Fabia, and Skoda don't reckon we get cold arses in winter like vRS drivers :D

I can't think of any other reason for having an unattached cable under a seat...

Tsk! The only Skoda I've driven with heated seats was a Fabia

I had as a courtesy car. Nice adjustable switch, better than

the ones where you press a button and it heats you up to

a set temperature.

I don't think the vRS comes with heated seats as standard

though...

Don't pull that cable - it's for the ejector seat!!

Reason it's on the driver side is cos on the continent that would be the passenger seat ;)

LOL.

The vRS doesnt have heated seats as standard, but it might just be that it is the connector belonging to it as it would be a standard installation in the factory... If I don't forget I'll ask the dealer what it is if someone else doesnt know the answer. I hope it is a nice 12V connection... XBOX anyone ;) ?

I think it may be the heated seat connector. My old Lancer GTI 16V had the connector for heated seats fitted , even though this option was never fitted to UK Lancers , only in cars for the Scandanavian market. The only RS in the Uk to come with heated seats is the WRC edition , if you had a look under a drivers seat of one of those you should see the cable connected up.

It's the 12v supply for the taxi radio!

I think it's part of the standard wiring loom.My old focus had all manner of wires for the multichanger and heated seats that ended with a connector

Have we ruled out it being wiring for the side airbag fitted to some models? thinks.gif

for the seat belt buckle

Is it to do with the seat belt buckle pre-tensioner, or is there per-tensioners on the Octavia.

would this be for the seat belt pre-tensioner, or is there pretensioners on the Octavia.

There are a number of wires and plugs under the driver's seat of my Octavia. I was able to trace one wire to the seatbelt fastener and another goes to the side airbag. There were no loose connectors visible.

Right, now you've really got me worried... Going in for a dive underneath tonight and see if I can find a socket to plug it in. And I may just take some pictures of it too :)

Seat belt pre-tensioner?

Rob.

its the wiring for the heated seats i think. I found the wire hanging out of my passenger seat on my Fabia TDI Elegance at the weekend.

The heated seats are good if you have a bad back which I sometimes do , being 6' 4" with often bad posture!

I have just been to check under the seats on my vRS WRC.

I have no loose wires, they are all connected.

There is a yellow Multiplug & a Purple & Green one.

The wiring from these disappears into the seat base, & as my car has heated seats I assume that is what they are for.

Heated seats in a WRC car? whatever next :D I can just see Colin McRae pulling into the service centre during a rally and saying something like "The bloody heated seats have packed up and I got a cold arse on that last stage." Probably ignoring the fact he clobbered a tree on the stage and limped into service on 3 wheels... My imagination is a bit vivid, eh?

Right, I have taken another look underneath and can find no place to put the connector in.

When I'm dropping the car off next Wednesday I'll ask the dealer about it.

I used to have a simlar connector under the driver & passenger seat in my Astra, it was used to test the connectivity for the Seatbelt pretensioners & the airbag systems, apparantly these are common on many new cars as they allow the dealer to easily find/identify connection problems (The main reason I found this out was when my airbag warning light came on and the dealer explained how they find the fault - Cost

Finally got the car back from the dealer (see other thread for my new silver alloys :D), and the cable is for the seatbelt indicator light... When they changed the drivers-seat padding they must have disconnected it and just plain forgotten about it...

Mystery solved :D

Q.

What no heated seat's - standard in the WRC, isn't it Bandit1 :airjock:
