Dodgy Looking Fabia VRS on Autotrader!

Featured Replies

Spotted an iffy looking Vrs on Autotrader website during my search for a new Fabia,it,s the cheapest Vrs for sale at the moment but have a look at the back bumper!

I would say its off a comfort model! Exhaust is sticking out a mile...Ah well the search continues!

is there a link?

Im not that technical...:)

It looks like a vRS to me, just the back bumper is incorrect. The vRS rear bumper effectively has a second skirt if you like that bolts over the top of the normal bumper. Looks like its had damage to the rear bumper and been fixed on the cheap.

I'll agree with what Tom_vRS has said. interior and front looks like a VRS, just the rear bumper is different.

Yep thats the one, looks like it may have a detachable towbar aswell,a no go due to not being approved for towing.

Does look stupid.

Wonder why they didnt just source a vrs bumper or buy one.

Makes all the difference when it comes to sale i think.

Then you will notice it has been in a crash etc.

Shame, because otherwise it looks & Tidy & clean car, As said why not put a Vrs bumper on there as it will only draw attention ...

How far does the tailpipe stick out with that bumper fitted also  Looks pants ...

The seller just sells cars from his driveway - I know because I used to be his neighbour! I might enquire and have a look at the car myself, if I do I'll post my verdict ;)

They might have swapped the bumper so that it clears the tow bar as i'm guessing you'd have to chop a VRS one up?

Maybe that's why the vRS isn't approved for towing? Cuz it obviously isn't a power issue. This crossed my mind when I first looked too!

.

If it is a vRS fixed on the cheap and the crash damage wasn't anything too serious (ie just needed a new bumper), would it be worth a looksy at that price?

(If that was a stupid suggestion, please blame the fact that I'm a girl, lol!!)

Not a stupid question at all, The Stupid one's are the people that don't ask...

The trouble is trying to ascertain what the damage was (If any) without documented photo's, Worksheets & invoices Etc...

There are some Vrs's to be had for not much more than that, That are complete Etc.

Thanks

In the good old days it was easy. You'd look inside the boot and note the bent metalwork and/or the flaking paintwork where things have been pulled straight but not finished off properly.

These days, everything has crappy plastic panels everywhere held in by poppers designed to destroy before they let go. You can't see a thing. Though conversely, these days, if it looks bent under all of the covers, it's really bl**dy bent. :)

IMO if it's had a light clonk to the rear end and hasn't got the VRS bumper, a quick lift and light viewing of the underside of the boot should tell the story. Also check the operation of the tailgate and look for signs of dressing/filing/adjustment to the lockplate.

The front bumper grills also appear not to be painted. They're all black, rather than being red/black.

Isn't there a check that you can have done to see the car's history including crash damage? Can't think for the life of me what it's called... Then again, that would only work if it was something declared on the insurance, and if it was a cheap fix i guess it wouldn't have....

On second thoughts, i think the check that i'm thinking of might be to see if the car had been stolen at some point...

Yes. :)

Your thinking of a Hpi report, Which was originally used to see if a vehicle had outstanding finance, But now includes Repairs, Claims, Stolen History Etc.

But as you say, Assuming it has been declared !!.

One of the quickest is CHECKB4

Type this number into a SMS

88600

Then put in the Text part below with the CHECKB4 text & the vehicles Reg, really handy when your looking at several cars

CHECKB4 HHH543

Then Send. It costs something like £3.50 from memory & will return approx 3 messages with varying information regarding the vehicle.

Thanks ;)

Just a point, if you go to the DVLA tax disc website, there is a facility to enquire about vehicles. If you put the Reg and Make in it tells you only basic stuff but it does say the car is Heavy Oil and its a 1.9. Its free to check these things on this site and you get to know how much the 6/12 month tax is at the same time! Genius!

Checked the reg number out on the rac vehicle check site and it comes back as a vRS. Looks like the bumper used is off a comfort model, etc.

Still a lot of car for the money though
