white smoke

Featured Replies

Hello,

my Car has been smoking for a while, since the shop told me that they have to make mayor repairs to it and itll be costly. yesterday i took out the entire intake and found unusual amounts of oil on it. i took out what seems to be the EGR from the intake and the car stopped smoking.

How can i take out the EGR valve to check it or replace it?

Have a search around on here about EGR and oil, is quite common. Some people get a oil collection thing (can't think of the proper name!) and/or blank off the some of the EGR pipework.

Probably nothing to do with the problem ,BUT

have seen on older cars same problem ,especially after bit of hard braking .

Problem was seals on master cyclinder leaking ,and brake fluid getting sucked into engine ,burning up and passing out as white smoke .

Suggest keeping check on brake fluid levels - (oops - seen magic word OIL -so it's not brake fluid seepage ---but a possibility till oil seen)

Do you mean a catch can, i´ve been thinkin of making one myself, but first i want to check and see if i need to change anything.

i´ve tried to search for the problem but everytime i use the search i get the 404 error .

i also be checking for the brake cilinder.

I have noticed that the smoke came mostly under hard acceleration and even if i slow down later, itll keep smoking for a while.
