18's on fabia

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I am about to purchase some OZ wheels for my fabia The record version. I have got my heart set on 18's but was wondering if they will ned any mods to the body, they are 7.5 x 18 so i am hoping the car will not need modding. Hope that someone will be of help to me

Thanks

Records. Nice. Wanted a set of these myself but think I'll stick to the standard wheels now. I've seen a vRS on 18's. Looked a bit daft I thought. But everyone to their own.

I have seen a few with 17's but want to fill those arches, it was either the records or another wheel which was called an rs gt not the same a bit deeper dish

Think Ross said 18" need arches rolling to prevent rubbing. Do a search on the forums the Fabia 18" wheel has been debated a fair bit.

If you want to fill the arches, lower the car and put some 17" on it :)

a'la

Eiback vRS springs (-25mm) and 17" TT Competition wheels with 205/40 17 Uniroyal tyres.

a la my old car - 17s and a good old lowering does the job. I dread to think what lowering and having 18s would do. I think they'd look a bit oval in the arch, unless really tiny profile tyres were put on?

JBS have got 18s on their test Fabia and they rub. They also make it look like a rollerskate but strangely I think it looks quite

Yep. Who needs 18's when you lower a Fab on 17's.

Sorry Ross, Just had to do it!

Ok the 17's and lowering could be an option, but the profile on the tyres on the 18's would be 35, but if i was to get 17's and lower it what springs are the best and how much does it drop it by?

Heres mine with 17"s and not lowered........... yet ;):D

lowering is between 30mm to 35mm depending on how accurate your ruler is. ;) basically its enough to bring the arch down to make an even gap all around the tyre, within the arch.

18s would need lower profile tyres than 35 I think.

god lower than 35 i might aswell just stick some elastic bands around them :-)

ok i think that i have made my mind up 17 it is they should look  what about brakes at the back on yours they look really small with the biger wheels any ideas

The 312 mm brake upgrade on the front how much odes that cost to get done it looks cool as hell

Ask Colin (neo) about brake upgrades - I can't do mine due to bloody Skoda making my brake carrier an integral part of the hub! :(

Are 312's standard Octy discs and calipers?

Standard for the vRS yes Colin

And I did the conversion on the 'other' Colin's Fabia ;)

I'm a bit confused now! The 312mm front brake upgrade for a Fabia vRS would require just standard Octavia front Disks and Calipers, i.e. all Octavias have the same front brake components, is this correct?

Yes they are Colin.

Came very close to having a set off a Golf yesterday whilst at JBS..same apparently..Was just a bit concerned about not knowing how old and what condition they were in. Looked ok for 2nd hand but gut feeling was a bit...I dunno...fancy the brembos granted for double the money but then you've got to have the 17" rims and tyres for the calipers to fit! More dosh!

Gonna fit some ferrodo pads this week onto the std calipers and see how it performs in Angelesy next weekend before I make a final decision!

This Revo I've had fitted by the way Ross, is so stunningly good, even I'm lost for words..can you believe that!!! Opted for the plug in device to drop it back to 130 for when Mrs C.J. drives it

By the way, std bhp was showing at 136. Now 180 and will rise apparently as the miles go on! Fantastic! :D

That's so cool

Is it a magnificent wheel jammin' rub, or just a gentle tickle?

Or when he's got a slightly... ahem... soiled passenger in after being shown what NOS does to the performance of a diesel :o

The 312mm "upgrade" uses parts from the Octavia RS, not "standard" Octavia discs & calipers :)

Yes I re-read the post and edited it accordingly.

Yes it uses standard parts, just standard for the vRS ;)
