I'd like some coilovers please :)

Featured Replies

I'm looking at getting some Coilovers for the VRS soon, there's a few to choose from.

What does everyone recommend?

I was going to spend around £400 (they all appear around this price!), i would like something that's not rock solid but hard enough if that's possible!

Cheers in advance

I'd get a battery first, LOL

All coilovers appear to be around £400?

Have a look at KW's and they are way above that amount, KW3's for my old Octy vRS were £960, you get what you pay for, and please make sure what ever you get has the correct spring poundage for the vRS, as a lot say they are correct, but are way out.

Also, ask yourself if you really need them for road use?

awesome are doing set for about £400 mate.

really worth doing gives the car a good stance and feel......

but get them set up right and reap the rewards:thumbup:

Hi

Yes we are doing the AP coilovers just now at a cracking price

Great quality too :thumbup; so you win all ways

£405.43 all in delivered

When it comes to cheaper coilovers , these are by far the best quality

Mluton - I'm picking one up later so balls :P

Beretta - I just looked on the Awesome site for a price guide so wanted some opinions, it's lowered already on some weiltec (spell it?) springs and they are a little harsh so wanted to swap them for some coilovers.

AwesomeSarah - Thanks for that, but it won't be until March when i get them as i'm having a large service and stuff done to the car this month so won't have the cash.

No worries

Just gives you some idea what prices are

Give me a shout if I can help with anything , that is what I am here for

keep me busy ;)

Weitec hicon GT mate. 475 when i got mine mid year. not sure on the prices now though.

the GT are the same as the KW v1(6-700) just made of galv steel not stainless like the kw. (they are made at the same place be same ppl)

or what about goin the FSD route?

I've got Weitec springs fitted too.

I must admit they were a bit harsh when just fitted with the standard shocks & the car bounced about alot as It was extremely underdamped. I now have Koni adjustable shocks fitted along with the Weitec springs & its so much better.

I think if you find the weitec springs harsh, you are going to to find coilovers even worse. It depends on what you are after. For Comfort and very good handling, then Koni FSD shocks and HR springs are a very good option. For better options in ride height and a firmer positive drive(track days), coilovers are the way to go. AP, Weitec and KW are all made in the same factory in Germany, main difference being the plating on the shocks for better corrosion protection making the pricing different. KW do have a better options to suit various driving types going with KW1 , KW2 and KW3 ranges all starting around £600 upwards for the KW1's and around £1000 for KW3's. I went with Weitec as Claytarget did and no issues so far.

Nope lol same as bowders1

if the roads you use are rough and bumpy then i wouldnt get coilovers. mine are ace for most of the roads i use but round were me lass lives in bristol at the moment the roads are bad and I am having to drive at 20mph or less as it is too choppy.

Good thing bout coilies is you can customise the ride height to what ever you want. I couldnt find any springs to lower the front more than the back so was no good goin for the FSD n HRs.

The roads in brum are shocking some of the places i go, i don't mind the car being firm i just don't want it to break my back when i hit a pebble so maybe they aren't the best way forward.

Maybe just get the red hot chili peppers wearing nothing but SOCKS as suggested?
