Is the second part not about failing to pay or if you contest it in court and lose? Have they got you bang to rights with a photo of the driver, at the spot and right direction the incident took place?

This might help: PePiPoo: Helping the motorist to get justice

I think taking a fixed penalty is like pleading guilty so you get potentaily a lesser punishment whereas fighting it and getting found guilty can get you a bigger penalty.

If they have you bang to rights I would take the 3 and £60 if not it may be worth fighting it.

I have got lucky so far and never had points so I really don't know the intricacys of it but I'm sure my time will come. Seems you cant blink in a car these days without being shafted by plod

i wouldnt argue? :orb_tai_c and if they are going to get me , id sooner this 40 in a 30,

i can kinda remember spotting the dam cam van on the other side of the road?

but i was having a calm day so wasnt really on edge worrying where things are, chattin im going to guess? :orb_yuck:

they shouldnt moan about plate, as they can obviously still read the dam things :orb_angry

i hate those bloody safty ****e things

it should be catch u and do you, not sneaky gayboy tactics :finger:

honestly , they are like little kiddies hiding in the hedge or bustops or where-ever

i dunno where they get, (up each others **** id bet)

it was on such a wide road with central bariers, but in fairness i was being naughty ,

and with no other harsher crimes going on ,

or nasty folk to try and find,or stop,

or problems to solve

i was in need of a lesson.

you'll never know, with another 60 maybe they can put it towards another much needed camera to stop people speeding on their way to mug stab rob rape shoot mug or commit some other nasty deed :finger: if people drive slower to and fromn doign these things they mite actually get stopped......... or not cos it wont be thier car :finger:

Hopefully they will put towards some traffic police. Camera's only catch speed, traffic cops can catch stupidity which is far more dangerous and kills more people usually :(

3 bits of a4 :finger: one of which tells me why and how i may have been caught:rofl:

**** happens!

Take the 3 points and £60 fine, then go console yourself in the pub!

An SP30 aint too bad, I wouldn't worry about it mate.

At least it's not an MS50.......

Yeah it's as you suspect. Admit you did it, pay £60 and get 3 points. Nothing more will be said. Otherwise opt to go to court and fight the evil pig scum, and probably lose unless you can afford a decent solicitor. The cameras in the cam vans are very good and 9 times out of 10 show the drivers face very well.

We got one woman claimed that her husband had been driving (he admitted it) so that she didn't reach the magical 12 points. We could have really took her to task with obstruct police/pervert course of justice. A quick visit with a fresh set of forms, and a quick chat about how the court might not believe that her totally bald husbands long blonde locks had fallen out over the last month. She could have dug her heels in but she decided that it was in fact an honest mistake and that she had filled out the wrong details. Doh!

See we can be nice sometimes even to those that try and fool us!!

Did you not get a NIP?

Get a cab there though

One SP30 won't do much to your insurance so probably best to take it like a man instead of dragging it through the courts.

I wrote a couple of snotty letters regarding an SP30 (35 in a 30) demanding they sent me a copy of the photograph and got no reply, figured it wasn't worth contesting it in the end.

You could be lucky like me and get offered a 2 1/2 hour speed awareness course instead of the 3 points, you still got the 60 to pay for the course, but its better than points. What pi55ed me off , was the fact i was only cought at 36 in a 30

One of the blokes at work got the offer of an awarness course, took it and when he got there asked the woman where he could park. She told him to park across the road in the pub car park where everyone else does and he came out to a ticket from a private parking firm. Cost him another £60.00

Bad luck

when i got caught speeding they offered me a course instead of the 3 points and £60, the course was around the £120 mark but id rather have that then 3 points.

i think it depends on how fast you were going and how old you are, im 23 and was doin 47 in a 30 (its a counrty road and was clear) but i think the usual guidelines for a speed awareness course are upto about 37mph in a 30

My boss got me of the hook with 3 points,i already have 8 so theres not a lot of room left,he wrote a polite letter saying when i got caught[i was in my works van] there were 3 of us who could have been driving and as we were in an area we didnt know to well we didnt know who was driving in this particular street.I was let of with a warning:D:D:D:D:D:D

Remember though not all areas will offer a course, and those that do will have criterea that you may or may not meet

Usually the company MD or secretary gets the points instead.

Yep, when a driver at my work got done the company secretary got a letter to give him up or take the fine/points himself lol
