Annoying cars

Featured Replies

Just want to vent some frustration.

Took delivery of my new Fabia vRS yesterday afternoon. I could't drive it til midight!

Anyway, soon after the delivery driver left I noticed that the mud flaps I'd orderd had been missed.

Slightly concerned I thought I'd check some other things!

After checking the levels, I noticed the screen wash was low. Once I started filling it up, it was obvious there was a prolem as it was leaking all over my drive

I've spoken to the dealer and they appologised and are going to sort it out tomorrow morning but they have had this car for over a week, surely this should have been noticed?

They reckon they can fit the mud flaps and change the washer bottle all in about half an hour - is this possible?

Also I noticed that there was polish still in one of the door shuts (and all over the rubber seal) and the drivers matt was screwed in at a wreckish angle!

Makes me wonder about the rest of the PDI? I might get them to check some other things tomorrow such as tyre pressures and wheel bolts!

Other than that I'm very pleased and it goes very well, although slightly concerned as I parked opposite a rather dodgy looking builder! I hope my car is still there as I left it when I go back to it tonight!!!

The car will be built OK -all the problems (except the screen wash) sound like the dealer rushing to get cars ready for the 1st September.

Just stick with it, and make friends with the service manager.

Phil

"They reckon they can fit the mud flaps and change the washer bottle all in about half an hour - is this possible?" - Yup.

Wipe the polish off the door area, unscrew the retainers for the drivers floor mat and refit them properly, check your tyres, wheel nuts and fluids then enjoy !

I didn't want to sound too fussy. I know these things happen but it is anoying when it's you. Any of the things on their own wouldn't have annoyed me but when all of them happen it is a bit irritating.

It can be annoying I know - most of the things that went wrong with my first TDI was within the first two weeks, but it was mostly squeaks/rattles, but they ironed themselves out eventually, and little else went wrong once the car was oop and running regularly. I suppose its not good for a car to be stationery for long - they like to be ran. :D

If it make you feel any better, just think of this, you could have had the Peugeot 206 I had which spent every month in the garage!! got rid of it at a loss but now I have my furby. I would swap it for anything and I tell everyone to buy skoda coz they are great!

As for sounding fussy, dont think that after all you paid a wee bit of money for it!

Ummm don't mean to sound stupid but why can't you just check the tyre pressures / wheel bolts yourself if your concerned about it? Then just kick up a stink if they're wrong. As for polish on the shutline I find a polishing cloth comes in handy..

All the above are reasons why the new plate rush is best avoided. The dealers are running around like idiots doing PDI's on cars to get them out on time.

And the guys doing the PDI's are?? Yep, the 16 year old school leaver apprentices employed during the summer....

It was just the combination of things that got to me. Any of them on their own wouldn't have bothered me at all especially the polish and drivers mat.

It is all sorted now though so I can concentrate on enjoying it.

I've had my Fabia 1.9TDI a few weeks and although the car was presented well on delivery (its done 8k and a year old) I've been really unhappy with the space hopper ride - it seems to jump from one bump to the next. Did the tyres and they were way way over inflated - I think they should be about 2.3 bar and mine were 3.5. Deflated all round and its like another car.

Dealer was obviously expecting it to sit on the forecort for a while!!

1st time Skoda owner jumped from the VAG "Premium Brand" cos I was fed up with the dealers and reliability issues. Seem pretty impressed so far!

how much are the mud flaps?

i bought mine 3 weeks ago and they said that mud flaps weren't available for the Vrs, something to do with the skirts, so i'd be very interested in some if they are now, just to stop all the crap spinning up the sides

Hey ive been doing PDi's for the last few weeks!

Can I ask if you got this from a local dealer, or from the internet? It's just that you say it was delivered, and most dealers prefer you to personally collect it so they can do the familarisation/handover/smug dealer bit.

I've been told that standard Fabia FRONT mud flaps will fit the vRS, but there are no flaps available for the rear because the vRS has a different shaped valance than the standard one.

Tins told me they deliver direct to your door? no dealer

Yes, this put me off Tins. If you read their T&C they state that the vehicle will be either driven to your home or delivered on a transporter, HOWEVER, it may have up to 100 miles on the clock at the time its delivered. Now I find this unacceptable for a number of reasons.

1. We've all seen the jerks thrashing down the fast lane with trade plates on - could this be your next new car?

2. On VAG vehicles, it is possible to reset the mileometer back to Zero IF the current reading is <100 miles. So theoretically they can always deliver with <100 miles on the clock, they just keep resetting it.

These two points put me off using Tins although they should be quite reliable as they are part of a major listed company - plenty of buying power there = big discounts for us lot. My preference is to buy from a dealer, as they have more to lose from a dissatisifed customer, and you can always visit his premises and pin him against the wall when things go horribly wrong! :)

This can only be done once, and once only.

oh dont tell me tins is a bad company i am ordering a vrs from them 2moro!!

yep thats me :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I'm not trashing Tins at all, I'm sure they are more than OK and will deliver exactly what you require, you'll be OK! I'm just sharing my opinion as I've done loads of research to try and find the best deal THAT SUITS ME.

So, after all this, the toss up was between Drive the Deal and my local dealer. After consideration I went for the local dealer and sqweezed his margin right down to what I wanted to pay (which was still more than DtD), but I'm happy with this. Today I ordered a MY2005 Black Magic Fabia vRS from the local dealer. Build is third week of October and my anticipated delivery date is mid-November. I opted for ESP, which incredibly put delivery back by a full 2 weeks. I'd be interested to know whether Tins, with their buying power, could improve on these times for your car.

My dealer also had a Red vRS demonstrator, the first Red one I've ever seen, even though I'm opting for Black, the Red ones really do look stunning!

If you order a car from tins, which is factory order, they can only coinside with the factory build dates.

Both the dealer & tins quoted 8 weeks delivery for my car. (tins were far cheaper though!)

Customer services are very friendly @ tins & you can have your car delivered ony where in the UK. I'm sure if you voice you concerns that you don't want 100 miles on your brand new car, they would probably get it deliverd by transporter!

Tins have told me 2 weeks for a standard Black Magic (is there n e other colour :)) VRS, and delivery date is due when i get back from Florida (if any things left of it) on 31st September

This can only be done once, and once only.

Thought this could be done twice?
