I've been searching for a new Fab VRS for a while now and these guys reckon they can get one to my spec inside 2-3 weeks, are they a trustworthy company, what has peoples experiences been with them.

I appreciate they may put me in touch with a dealer a long way away but as long as the dealer isnt more than 1-2 hours away (which is most of england) then i'm prepared to travel to collect as its worth the

The parent company is The House of Cars Limited - a private limited company incorporated in 1996. If I were buying from that type of company I would be wary of handing over any significant amount of money until I had the car keys in my hand. That said, HonestJohn regularly quotes drivethedeal.com prices and I can't find any adverse comment about them on the internet. One buyer reports paying a

Yes, that seems to be how its done, they take what is effectively a finders fee which comes off the final price of the car, I'm definately considering it for the discount they can get, i'm surprised my local dealer cant match it if i'm paying pound notes cash in a suitcase ;)

Only worry is being put in touch with the dealer after i've paid and told they're 500 miles away!

Why did i post this in the drawing room tho, i've never even opened this forum before!

For thew difference in price you could fly to any dealer in UK if necessary, even N. Irish ones!

YOu prob didn't the post moving gremlins have been up to their tricks. I am considering starting a campaign against these gremlins.

true, but i'd be forced to pay the delivery if they were in N Ireland as it would be a bitch to get it here wouldnt it?

Also if there are problems i'd quite like to go back to the dealer when i bought it rather than just any dealer, but i suppose thats the price i'll pay for getting it so much cheaper

Hi, thread moved into General for you UHF. Duplicate one in General will shortly be deleted :D

hehe nice one, mods on here are good.

Its nothing like being on Scoobynet, on there i'd have been told not to advertise or something equally as daft!

Seriously considering purchasing through DTD if I can sell my car private, just didnt wanna hand over my

You could fly to Belfast for about

I bought through DTD and the process was seamless. They take the deposit and pass it to the dealer who guarantees their price. Dealer will then contact you direct as if you had come directly to them.

My car came from Lancashire (I live in London) and delivery was included in the price.

I saved quite a lot over a dealer and the car took 2 weeks from phoning up to being mine.

I would recommend DTD to anyone.

Same here, I went through DTD and I made quite a saving considering I had 2k worth of options on the car. I think the saving worked out I paid 700 for the options if you want to think about it that way.. which I do.

The car came today, also from up North to London. Very friendly dealer, delivered to my door, what more could you ask for.

I've only had a short time to play with it though as I had to get back to bed for night shift but i'm very impressed so far. :P

thanks, how much did they charge to deliver it? and was it driven down or trailered down?

I see you got ESP, a lot of people asking about that on here, have a buzz around and let us know your thoughts

No charge for delivery, and it came down on the back of a low loader/mini transporter.

I'm in the center of the City and due to my shift work I won't get to give it a good test run for a few days but on the bright side i've got 2 weeks on the mid Wales border coming up and the roads up there are great driving roads so I can't wait ! :P

Just about a year ago when I need a new car quickly as the MOT had run out on my Felicia (and getting an MOT quickly in N.Ireland is impossible) my wife had persuded me that we wanted a Vauxhall Zafira. Having tried local dealers, I tried drivethedeal.com (recommended in What Car). They could do a Zafira Design for a good price, but would only deliver the car free to a Irish sea ferry port of my choice (ie I would have to go over and drive the car unto the ferry myself (and pay for the ticket)). In the end I used their offer to negotiate a good price from a local dealer, as I really needed the car quickly, only to have my wife change her mind after we had ordered the car. In the end I ended up trading the Felicia for a 1999 Octy 1.6LX with only 13K miles on the clock as by this time I was likely to get done for not having the car taxed (due to lack of MOT (3 -4 months waiting time for a test)). After owning the Octy 1.6 for only a short while and being influenced by the people on here, I bought a 11 month old Octy vRS from a local second hand dealership and passed the 1.6 LX to the wife who then sold her Fesita 1.25.

And when the music stopped... who was out? :D

Thank goodness I've never had to juggle cars... They either expire or get part-ex'd. Mind you, there's only been two before this one...

Yes it did feel like musical cars for a while. Worst thing is my Wife really wants to get rid of the 1.6LX for something with more creture comforts (aircon, e/windows etc).

What about a vRS...?

Start the music again maestro!!! :D

No she is not allowed to spend that much, she only earns 15K per year.

they don't have the octavia vRS on drivethedeal.com only the new Octavia
