What tyres would you have?

Featured Replies

Im thinking of getting falken's or toyo's for my tt comp's in 205/40/17 size, what do you think i should go for?

I've got 205/40/17 Falken 452's on my Fabia vRS - fitted with 17" mk1 Octy's - and I'm really pleased with their all round performance.

i have 205/45's on my tt comps on a mk4 golf

I HAVE VERDSTEIN SPORTRAK 196 45 16 ON MY VRS RIMS AND THERE BLOODY AWESOME WOULD RECOMENTD TO ANYONE

I've been very impressed with Maxxis VH1 205x40-17 tyres, excellent in the wet, dry and a lot quieter compared to my last set of Toyo's

Bargain price too!

Happy with the Toyo's.

Unless you like a bit of a stretch on the Comps, Get 215/40/17's.

I'm a kuhmo fan myself but given your question of Falcon or Toyo I would have to choose the falcon as I wasn't impressed with the Toyos when I had some, I've never tried the Falcons but I guess there's No harm in trying something new.

I'm running the falcons. Great in the dry, quite good in the wet. Don't wear down too quickly and will take a bit of abuse. It your planning on driving really, really hard, I would suggest something else. For everyday driving the falcons are great (especially for the price).

got the fabia vrs with champiro GT's all round i expected them to be crap but really impressed. Cheap as well 17/40/205. Mine are just about shot so i'm going for a full set of P Zero Nero's lets hope they're worth the extra ££.

Which Falkens and which Toyos though??

I've been continually impressed with Toyo's T1-R and I've had quite a few sets, on various wheels! As I've said on here before, I'll continue to buy them while Toyo continue to make them...

But as you see, tyre choice is quite a personal thing and depends what you want to get out of them, and what your priorities are. What's right for me, or someone else, might not be good for you. It's very much a case of trying a make/model and then sticking with them if you like them :)

Ive just got Toyo T1-R 's from Camskill.co.uk £55 each, and handle well. Recommended.

Dave

Yep, Camskill is a great place. Good service, excellent prices and fast delivery. Get all my tyres from there now.

At the moment I have Falkens fitted on my Fabia vrs on 17` rims. They are very good tyres, but when you push the car they become a little bit scary especially in the wet. Soon I`m changing them to TOYO T1R as i read very good reviews about them.

Yokohama Spec-2 Pradas on mine :)

Uniroyal Rainsports... said it lots of times and i'll say it again, wipes Toyo Proxes and Goodyear Eagle F1's off the planet

In your humble opinion mate

If you've never had them you should try them - just once :D

As good as Eagle F1's and Toyo's in the dry and in a different league in the wet... also wear alot better than Proxes.... :D

Having had the GY GSD F1s on my vRS, I am unlikely to buy them again unless I could afford to run them as pure summer tyres.

They are ****e in the cold, and IMHO downright dangerous when it gets anywhere near freezing temperatures. The Toyos are much better IMHO. Not tried the Uniroyal ones as yet.

I've got 205/40/17 Falken 452's ... and I'm really pleased with their all round performance.

After experimenting with various tyre shapes over the years (square, triangle, trapezoid etc), I have to agree. :P

I have tried them.

I didn't find them in a different league to the T1-Rs at all, but there you go. I find the T1-Rs are excellent in wet weather and handle standing water extremely well. Plus I find the Toyos wear very well...

i have the toyo t1r's on my comps! they are an amazingly good tyre!! plenty of traction from them! hardly ever spin up upon booting it! and tbh i dont treat the car like a fairy and they dont seem to have weared that much at all!! top class tyres! although im open to trying the uniroyals to see what there like!

Uniroyal Rainsport 2 do very well HERE. I drove my mates Scoob with them on last week and was very impressed. When I had a Scoob I ran Toyo's and found them average. I was impressed with Vredestein Ultrac, and have heard nothing but praise for their new Ultrac Sessanta. Although I've never driven them, lots of people respect F1's, especially the new Assymetric. However, a couple of friends who've just tried the Rainsports after years of F1's report that the Uniroyals are indeed better in all respects. The best tires I ever had were Bridgestone RE070's. They were extremely compromised, suffering awful tramlining due to extremely rigid sidewalls, and were atrocious in the wet, but foo me were they brilliant in the dry. They added over 30mph to my average cornering speed over more ordinary tires such as Toyo's.

On the Furby I went cheap and got 4x Nankangs for £184 fitted. As it's a driving instructor car I don't want to splash lots of cash on rubber that doesn't last me long anyway. On my alloys which are reserved for track and personal use I have some Hankook RS2 track tires which have been very good so far. Will see how they faire at Cadwell next month.

I'd be interested in some Rainsport 2s, certainly. Don't seem to be very good value though - they're more expensive than Asymmetrics! So my thinking is are they roughly £25 a corner better than T1-Rs?
