AutoSocks Rule!

Featured Replies

As it says, they're amazing! We had a fair bit of snow here on the coast near Scarborough today and all hell broke loose as usual. Amid all the chaos, there was a oasis of serenity. I put the socks on the car, never having used them before and was so impressed. Never before has a product performed way beyond my expectations.

Before I used them, I initially got stuck on a hill that most people were struggling on, thinking that the vRS was up to the task. Halfway up the Goodyear Eagle F1s finally admitted defeat, so I popped the socks on and just pulled away. I even tackled a hill that a couple of 4x4s were struggling on.

Can you tell I'm impressed yet? They were well worth the cost and so easy to put on. Even the ABS wasn't triggered whilst using them, neither was the ASR.

Cracking.

I'd say buy some, although that's not much use tonight. I've had them in the boot for over two years and today is the first time they've been needed.

I had an email about these from The Roof Box Company yesterday and did wonder if the 'socks' were any good. I must check and see if the size is the same for a Fabia vRs and an Octavia 4X4.

Just read up on the link you put in here. Sounds very interesting, I'll suggest these to the wife as her ickle fabby struggles to get anywhere near where se works and it's cheaper than buying snow tyres and a spare set of wheels.

Same here. They do look interesting.

On a technical note, where do you stand legally as regards tread depth on your tyre, as there isn't any when the sock is over it?

I reckon you should still have legal thread depth on your tyres, the wrapper doesn't come into it for that piece I would have said, but a very good point, perhaps one of our traffic officer visitors could sound in on this one?

I hadn't thought about that....

They make the car so sure footed on the snow that anyone who had used them would not see it as an issue. However, I reckon that most insurance companies wouldn't recognise them and it could be a problem.

Worth giving your insurer a buzz I guess, for some reason that comment does make me wonder as well :)
