Featured Replies

Any tips or hints on how to remove a set of eibach rear spacers guys?

Inbolt them and use a soft face hammer to knock them off.

Inbolt? unbolt??

my eibach ones aren't bolted on :s

Unbolt, sorry.

So do you have the ones with longer wheel bolts? If so just use a soft face hammer to knock them off.

Yeah - The spacer sits on the hub, and the wheel onto the "hub" on the spacer itself. If after unbolting the wheel the spacer is stuck on the inside of the alloy, hit it gently on the sides all round, then try prising it gently all round with a large flat screwdriver. I have never known them to get so bad they stick to the wheel or hub with any serious issue. Also, allowing a good soak in wd-40 will help.

yep thats how I got mine off my astra. used one of the small screwdrivers from a cracker lol few taps down the edge with a hammer and they came off without any fuss!

Mine were stuck on the hub though not in the alloy!

Use copper grease in the first place, and you wont find a problem,

Only lightly, and not on the threads if you can help it.

HTH.

mine are not budging at all! :( I tried tapping it all round with a hammer then WD40 then prising but couldn't get in to prise it then I tried hammering the screwdriver in and no luck then I got major ginger rage and batter feck out it with the hammer and still nothing...

I even tried getting a hammer in from the back caught the lip of the spacer and still nothing at all not even any sign of movement :( any ideas?

They stuck on the hub btw...

Also I never put the spacers on it was the previous owner and they haven't been off in I reckon 50k since they went on :(

hhmmm...........heat then batter them?

Whereabouts are you bud?

Going to try it at the weekend if I don't get time on thursday either that or ask Jim at Star to do it while he is servicing the car of Friday...

I'm in bathgate mate:)

Well, it sounds like the spacer has well & truly rusted on to the hub then. I suspect some serious heat will be needed, and some serious abuse. Do you have a bolster and a decent mallet? That might provide a lot more leverage than a screwdriver. :)

bolster as in knife?

I think a blow torch might help things along like :)

A tad annoying like just want to get my new discs and pads on and was doing it in a rush well it wasn't a rush until I encountered this problem lol...

Bolster as in a metal chisel like thing that normally has a sharp flat end, and on the other end a blunt point to hammer, like this:

Penerating oil is what you need (like 3 in 1 oil) , takes longer to soak in than WD-40 but leave it over night and might do the trick.

They may have cold welded to the hubs. Heat the spacer evenly with a blow lamp, then whack it with a lump hammer.

Adrian,

I removed mine the other week from my car (also Eibach) and they were a PITA.

Took me about 15mins to get them off.

What i ended up doing was, with the car very securely jacked up, chucked the wheel back on and tightened up the nuts very lightly, and gave the wheel a good shoogle about, and the spacer moved slightly.

Removed the wheel, and tapped it with a hammer on the outside and it popped off.

Awesome I'll try that method on thursday :)

Cheers man

Cool.

I tightned my wheels up just so they were tight against the adaptor and no more.

Then shoogle like a madman till you get a little movement....! :D :D

so basically like hand tighten the bolts?

Well yes, and then just nip them up enough so the wheels aren't moving seperately from the spacers.

If you need a hand let me know.
