Roomster alarm switch off

Featured Replies

Help needed please, for Roomster 1.9tdi. going on ferry in April to Spain, just noticed ferry company states ALL car alarms to be switched off on boarding in case of rocking motion of ship, now I`ve looked under alarm in hand book, and I must be thick, becouse I cant find any info on this, if anyone knows, and in words of one syllable please, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks.

Close all but the driver's door, press the illuminated button on the driver's door trim then shut the door and operate the lock button within 30 seconds. It's A L L in the manual.

Mines been on several ferries and the alarm aint gone off once.

That will only disable the internal movement sensors and rocking the car will still set the alarm off. To turn it off completely just press the lock button on the remote twice quickly.

Wrong: pressing the door button inhibits motion and internal sensors. Pressing the remote twice disables deadlocks: it has nothing to do with the alarm.

I've RTFM several times and I've just done so again. On page 40 it says

"The interior monitor and the towing protection are operated with the button . You can switch the interior monitor and the towing protection off if there is a possibility that movements from (e.g. children or animals) inside the vehicle interior or if the vehicle must be transported (e.g. by train or ship) or towed, might trigger the alarm."

Now I think that means what you said, but I'm still not totally sure. I guess "towing protection" might also mean if someone tries to break into the car but I wish they'd make it clearer. The first few times I read it I went by the bit that said "if there is a possibility that movements from (e.g. children or animals) inside the vehicle interior" which made it seem as though that was all the button switched off. Now I have read it again, I think you might be right.:mw:

No rough seas I suppose :D

That might not apply to everyone. the button on my car has the same symbol as the boot unlocking button on the key, and doesn't illuminate. there's another thread where a poster says his manual says it's a boot release in some markets.

To make certain on ferries etc, I use the double lock system with the remote.
