Detailed swmbo's Yaris

Featured Replies

Mainly as a chance to practice with my new Kestrel machine poisher, but as it hadn't been done in ages I thought it would be nice.

Was washed using 2 BM.

Clayed with Meguiars Clay kit.

Polished with Mezerna final polish on a finishing pad.

Dodo Juice Lime'd.

Then waxed with Collinite 476.

So as the washing began she looked pretty bad.

Then the following day masked ready for treatment.

Then after polish and Dodo juice.

And finally after wax and tyre dressing.

All my hard work produced these shots...

I didn't get as many swirl marks out as I would have liked but did sort out a few scuffs and minor scratches. Next time I think I'll try a deeper cutting polish and pad combo. But since this was the first time I wanted to get a grip on using the machine and follow good advice and start light and work up to full swirl removal. Didn't want to ruin the paint.....

So I'm pleased, your thoughts and comments welcome as always.

Good Work  was that the PO106 Menz FF you used? It is vert light cut so youd be safe to have an experiment, but you will get the feel for how it is now and even going through the breaking down stages of polish is good for experience.

Keep it up

Looks good mate and Silver is a hard colour to learn on.............

Excellent result well done. Good to see someone starting with a light cutting compound and pad as they learn.

Looks like a day up at yours Ian is on the cards . let you try your Kestrel on my motor lol

Looks very good, well done

Starting off with milder compounds is the way to go, that's how I learned the basics. Liking the Kestrel then? :)

Thanks, your quite right about the mild compounds. Looking forward to doing mine now. I do like the Kestrel, although I haven't used any others, especially once I'd found the most comfoetable way for me to hold it.

Good stuff, I wish you and your Kestrel very good results

Great result bro, I'll have to get you to have a go on the Coupe, previous owner has left a good bit of swirling on her :(
