Revs stay high?!?!?

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Tried to search but no joy so thought I'd ask.

My 56 plate Fab VRS holds the revs high sometimes, I'll pull up to lights and instead of 8-900 rpm it'll idle around 1500 then slowly drop to normal over ten seconds. It drops straight down if i pull up on the accelerator pedal though. Any ideas what it could be? Cars great otherwise, cheers for looking

I have the exact same issue!

Apparently its a faulty pedal position sensor (they are drive-by-wire as opposed to actually moving parts). I'm going to Skoda under warranty about it. Are you still under warranty?

Quite a common fault, and as said above, throttle position sensor is goosed, 20 Mins to change at dealers. Mine failed at 23,000 miles, 18 month old car.

IIRC part is about £70 and easily a DIY job.

Big ask I know but anyone have a part number/exact part name or any other info? Dealers being a pain and I fancy the DIY route, I'm pretty able with the spanners and hammers

mine does it wen i first start up until i blip the throttle is this the same problem?

Sounds like it. Like the pedal sticks a bit and holds the revs up.

funny enough mines in the garage for the exact same thing. mine turns out to be a broken accelarator pedal (some sort of bit at the back that any idiot (me) cant get too - they did initially think it was a broken pedal box/ and the sensor, but its just the accellarator)

do you find if you "lift up" the accelatator the revs drop off back to normal? that was the tell tale for my issue...

incidently mines failed at 22,500 miles... some sort of link here with others?! mines being done under warranty as its on an 07 plate so sorry cant tell you on costs

hth
