Thats a foot rest as well, if you go by the analogy then my Octavia Manual has 5 pedals. I have a right hand footrest, also a foot rest on the left coming off the central tunnel and the three normal pedals.

Seems to me like a pedal, also the "other" two pedals - the left hand isn't the normal large pedal associated with an auto box.

I think it's fairly clear that they Photoshopped a manual car with a DSG lever, and not got away with it!

On the Polo, looks great but I bet VW will want an arm and a leg for it. I must say I like the look of the new Ibiza personally(same guy who styled the Lambo Murcialago) and when that car gets a 1.6 CR TDI or an 1.4 Twincharge, I will check it out. I will also check out the Fabia VRS if they don't ask silly money for it. I have this thing about not paying silly money for a small car. I will definately drive one of these but will have to see the price list!
