Are there any Tips/Items not listed/extras you have found on your SE that you did not expect:) took me nearly a year to find out that the wipers on my Octavia went from constant wipe to intermittant when I stopped only to resume when drove off:eek: I thought the fuse had gone:rofl:

not listed but auto on lights was a nice result i dint think you got them unless you had the adaptive but you do.

Apologies if u already found these but in the MFD you will find options for (among others) :-

Daytime driving lights,

3-flash indicator ("Comfort Ind"),

Door locking automatically above 10 mph, and whether remote opens all doors or just driver's on the first click,

Control of coming/leaving home lights and their on-times, brightness of some footwell lights,

etc

Have fun !

Dipping passenger mirror on reversing apparently does not work unless you have electric seats option (but am really puzzled by the sound of a motor running over on passenger side a second or two after selecting reverse !!)

Any others you can remember? Do not get mine till next month so any info appreciated, did not know about 3-flash indicator:thumbup:

Ok - what else.....

You can set the alarm system to beep (or not) when locking/unlocking doors; set door mirrors to move together or independently when adjusting; windows can be set to close (all together or just driver's) when you press and hold lock button on key fob (I believe - not actually played with that one; mine will shut all open windows);

And you can adjust the volume of the parking sensor "beeps" from the MFD. In addition on the Bolero rasio you can adjust by how much the radio volume is reduced (or set it to no reduction) when you select reverse (so it doesn't drown out the beeps of the rear parking sensors!!).

That's about all I have played with so far !

One thing I found out (on all models) is when you unlock the boot it automatically opens!

On a different tack, the SE has Alcantara + (leather?) upholstery. Has anyone noticed a distinctive smell to it ? I have an odd smell in the car on first getting in - nothing is damp anywhere in the car, nothing has been spilled in there. I have sniffed all around the car interior from boot to footwell and even spare wheel well and I cannot find a source and therefore can only assume it is the "natural" smell of the Alcantara or perhaps of the other material (which looks like hard leather but suspect it may not be ).

Anyone else noticed a distinctive smell ?

I think it could be the "pretend leather", I have been in to a shoe shop (that sell pretend leather shoes) and on opening the box had a right wiff coming out of it. can only assume the smell will go away in time just like the nice smell of a new car goes away.

Or, you could get a bottle of this stuff, which is great and works on vinyls too. :)

Thanks Argee & Burialconstant - funnily enough I had just dug out a bottle of leather conditioner from a kit that came with a leather sofa and was wondering if that might help, if the "leather" was the problem. I have used something like Febreze on the fake suede but without success so it could be the fake leather. I will try this stuff I have as the smell is driving me nuts and not sure i can wait until it goes away itself.

A colleague with a Passat Highline (leather seats) tells me his smells of "plastic" so maybe that's it. Fingers crossed !

Thanks all

In the New Superb Recomended price list and Specifications UK 08/08 valid until 31st December 2008.

Hope this may be of some assistance.

Has the smell gone away yet Chocaholic? I should get my SE in the next few weeks so would like to know how you got rid of it:thumbup:

'fraid not. Need a concerted try with this stuff but am not sur eit can change the smell - if not will need to try the other stuff.

Anyone else got a noticeable smell with the Alcantara/mock leather seats ?

When i bought the car last October their was a slight smell from the seats but within 7 to10 days it just went.

:rotz: I think you need to get that smell investigated, like fofos says it should be gone by 2 weeks!

Update - for those who may be interested - having convinced myself it couldn't be the upholstery (the sniff test - crude but effective) or the carpets (likewise) nor something in the ventilation system (clean fresh air coming through), I emptied the car of all "soft" items (coats etc) and my suspicions now turn to a back support I use for driving (have not yet found a lumbar support that sticks out enough).

Am in process of trying to clean said device and will leave it out of car for a while and see what happens - so far looking (smelling??) promising.:o Will advise as and when I am sure.

Thanks to all for inputs (was hoping a rodent hasn't died in car crevices somewhere  but TBH it's not that type of smell - more stale/foisty)

:eek: crikey you must have one hell of a knackered back !! i find the lumbar hurts when it is all the way out !!! your spin must be like a banana....an i though i had problems finding a comfy car seat !!!

Hi Jonathan !

Mine is not the Elegance (sadly) which from your description must have a useful version of a lumbar support, not the completely ineffective version I have in my SE !

Mine is the Vrs and in the maxi-dot i don't have the option to lock doors above 10mph?? I walking home early from work to double check :)

:shhh: Don't tell anyone, BUT theres **** all of a difference between the maxi-dot on my car to the one one yours. Same as Golf , Passat & SUPERB !!

And i can tell ya that VAG havn't overhauled the maxidot system in the mk2 superb even if there is a viual difference in the MFD display. !!

Even if yours has the new edition with the seperate kmph display. Sure ya can get that displayed on the climatronic unit, the info is being acquired from the same source !!

Are you using the air con a lot, this sometimes gives off a niff each time it's started up again, kinda musty in aroma.

Thanks for the suggestion !

But no - in fact I had wondered if it was because I wasn't using it enough, but no smell is coming from the ventilation sytem - aircon on or off.

Since my update the situation has definitely improved so I hope I am seeing light at end of the tunnel (and not an oncoming train !) :D

Never knew that on the overhead unit (interior lights/alarm sensors & sunglass holder) there are two small LED's that come on at night to give a bit of light! only found this out when retro fitting a bluetooth unit.
