Plains Rally, 25th Sept, mid-Wales

Featured Replies

Want to see some proper rallying for free? None of this paying to watch some wusses in the woods, and hanging around for hours!

Knutsford & Distict Motor Club are the organising club. Start and finish is in Welshpool.

Our motor club (Wallasey MC) are running a stage in Panperthog forest. First car due at 11:28, last one at 15:42 inc o.t.l. allowance.

If anyone would like to come out for the day,we are looking for marshals, or why not just come out to spectate if you want. Dyfnant is a another forest being used.

I'll be on the start line from approx 8.00 am,cooking breakfasts!

Any interested parties form an orderly que here!

Im interesting in popping along if I can make it (where abouts?)

I suppose you could twist my arm Col.

If I remember right I'm at a birthday party that night so a quick dash home would be in order.

Just a quick reminder for the preceeding posts for those who may be interested.

Bring your wet weather gear though, the forecast is grim! rain and rain and more rain.

Still the cooking will be good..if I remember to take the cool box this time ey Andy!

Just follow your noses everyone. The smell of sausages, bacon, mushrooms, beans, egg, black puddin', and MARMITE toast! :D drifting through the forest. and the dazzling of my famous hat!

Oh and hot metal too!

Just got back from our trip to the woods, and would like to convey both my and our motor clubs thanks to Andy (Spinndrift) for helping us to run the stage in Panperthog forest :thumbup:

Talk about in at the deep end! He did the start and counted the cars down to go...may not sound much, but if you haven't done it before it can be quite nerve racking.

He was getting his fingers a bit mixed up at first counting them down, but the drivers got the jist I think!

Poor fellah had to be relieved at one point 'cus his back was givin' him a bit of jip :thumbdwn:

All in all, an excellent day, the weather wasn't too bad, and we HAD to go to the pub on the way home  ! Had a damned good laugh talking about some of the chavs and barry boys that were spectating in thier Novas etc!

I presume our leader didn't make it then..bit of rain forecast ;) WUSS!

edit, forgot to mention, 2 skodas competing..a Fabia 1.4, and a fantastic 1973 Estelle I think it was, both very mucky and going well!

Spoke to the drivers, and they were enjoying themselves.

Never mind the cars Colin..................how was the breakfast ? :D

Only thing missing was the chefs 'at!

Monster forest brecky this morning, the sound of sizzling bacon, sausages, eggs, and mushrooms etc., echoing through the forest. Both me an C.J. jnr., struggled to get through it.

Tastes somehow better cooked outdoors for some unknown reason too!

Why is it that I enjoy cooking outdoors in sometimes very adverse conditions..not too bad today..only heavy drizzle for a while...... but at home! Hate it!

Must be the caveman in me! Mrs C.J. agrees...that's a first! :D

well had a good day out today went to ss1 and drove over to ss6 saw the skoda's pics did not turn out though. gave my 1.9tdi a good run over thoose lovely welsh roads. Only saw one other skoda a furby vRS.

sounds good fun whish I had come along... but slept in

edit due to fat fingers :D

A bloody fantastic day!!!

Scary as hell counting down the first few cars with my feet only inches from their front wheels followed by the shower of wet forest gravel.

The Estelle was gorgeous and the 1.4 Fabia looked pretty tasty too (good shower of gravel from that).

Voice a bit buggered from shouting all day and my ears are ringing but roll on Donnington tomorrow.

My back is a mess but who cares.

I think me and CJ now own the only two white Fabia VRS's in existance.

Why didn't you come and join us in Panperthog? We wouldn't have bitten!

Had enough sausages to go 'round! :D

Sad the photos didn't turn out either :(

doer1, you great lazy :goldfish: trout!.You sound just like my eldest...permanent matress itus! :finger:

S'pose I'll have to cook all this excess grub I've brought home. Rally video on for the sound effects, and cooker in the jungle at the bottom of our garden. :D

Another chance coming up in about 6 weeks though...Cambrian stages.

All the ususal classic N wales stages. Will thread it up when I've got more info.

Also, in December, I usually go up to Grizedale forest, for the Grizedale (really!) stages. A trip well worth while..sometimes snowy too! Will keep interested parties posted.

N.B. After rally country pub visits are compulsary however.
