Oily intercooler pipe

Featured Replies

Should I be concerned about this? Do you think it leaks boost from there as well? What are my options to fix it?

The other end (where the pipe is connected to the IC itself) is dry (almost):

most boost pipes with the crap connections which they have, do leak a little. you could try seperating them and giving them a good clean. I'm not sure if the 'o'rings are available but if they are it may be worth changing.

there may be a little boost leaking but not much. there would be a large mess spread about and loads of hissing!!

Don't worry about it mate. All vrs's do it! It will leak a very small amount of pressure but nothing noticable.

The oil comes from the oil breather pipe on the top of the engine, which feeds airated oil into the intake system, totally normal, although its worth getting an oil cooler tank, or at least cleaning the intercooler every 10 000 miles to stop a build up of oil.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I think I have this problem along with a loud whistle on accelerating. Can any one help?

Thanks

a good clean then the elephant mod - job done

the loud whistle will be a boost leak most likely on the bottom 90ish degree bend from the intercooler
