I think the issue is getting hold of one. They're being released slowly it seems to avoid them selling too quickly.

500 isnt that many to shift. ;)

Went to my dealer on Saturday to see about a diesel hatchback LE vRS , got the impression that I may have left it too late, they are unable to tell me if any available untill they speak to their big boss on monday. Would not shift on the price as says very little profit after vat removed. They did say if available then two to three weeks which does seem a rather short lead time, have they been built all ready and kept in storeage ? Are there many out on the roads yet ? I have not noticed any down in south west and wales. Any advice most welcome.

I really wouldn't order one until you have seen one side by side with a standard vRS on 18" zeniths. General concenus is that this looks better although it's down to choice. I certainly wouldn't pay a premium for one.

I am getting the same response. It seems the dealer is not interested selling the LE unless it is at list plus extras. The general forum impression is that with the current wheels the car is not that attractive. The same style wheels have also been on earlier VW cars. It also makes you wonder why the dealers do not have any in the showrooms. As the car only exists in a brochure and a few hundred in a storage compound not too far away, might as well buy from Argos or Lidl. Also with the cars already prebuilt no factory fit options like bluetooth can be added, plus no LE Petrol estate. The dealers are trying to sell a car which is already 3 months old and when the new VRS is released the premium paid will dissolve as quick as sugar in hot water. Plenty of Octavia Mk1 special editions sat in showrooms that nobody wants. If Skoda and the dealers do want to sell cars to new customers they need to realise they will need to give the customer a good deal or provide the car with the specification to match the price they are asking, not a LIMITED option edition. The leather is nice, exterior paint colour?, Wheels poor. Dealer interest?

Says it all really:

Take a drive to Grimsby if you want to see it in the flesh, IMO the LE wheels ruin the car.

Id haggle for a good deal on a standard one, and get the leather seats option., or retrofit best of all worlds

The only good thing about the LE is the leather seats- paint and wheels look drab IMHO

I'm starting to like the LE wheels, and the zeniths just look wrong for me. Bit flowery.

I was starting to think I was the only one who didn't think the wheels were too bad.

Now someone else has said it I can stop lurking :)

£17k for the Diesel Estate, dog guard and 5liters of oil.

re: gadgetman and stoofa's comments; gotta agree-the LE wheels have become a grower on me. In fact looking at the pic peter0976 posted the LE wheels look positively better on the grey vRS compared to the zeniths IMO - though they may look gash on any other colour of vRS, haven't seen so don't know.

As for prices on the LE - I personally found it to be a much better deal than buying a standard vRS.

Reason:

Only options I wanted were metallic paint and maxi-dot, due to new build having more kit as standard.

When priced up, OTR, the LE cost only £250 more than a standard vRS as per dealer pricing (list price not including any discounts thrown in).

In a nutshell, this means I'm getting leather and the newer, better interior, all for £250-bargain.

I was also told I'd have to wait until sometime in April/May to get the standard TFSI vRS due to none being left in UK and thus wouldn't be included in the VAT free deal (running until end of March).

I know from reading the posts so far that the LE has divided opinion and got a bit of a slagging from some posters (mostly about those wheels) but IMO looking at the side by side pics above Skoda made the right decision by matching the grey car with the wheels.

The fact that the LE is a bargain for the reasons above was the stone cold seller for me.

Thats my opinion though, as always, each to their own and all that;)

I hope the above helps someone make up their mind either way:)

I think the LE wheels look like halfrauds specials, much prefer the zeniths

Yep, I actually like the wheels too, they remind me of classic racing car spokes. Anyway, spotted an Audi with something similar in carpark near work the other day, so perhaps that's whhere they've been sourced?

They are available and if you search here there are plenty pics of a dockside full of them, no options other than what is laid down in the brochure and the nil VAT makes the dealers a little reluctant to do deals, in fact they can't...given the margins, mathematically it's just not possible.

There is also the opinion (pretty much sure really) that the leather is a Seat Surgeons job............Factory build and delivery to UK then when ordered interior ripped out then off to have re-upholstered...

That's the opinion shared here and I for one would agree......so all in all not really an LE more like trying to shift old stock with incentives.........:thumbdwn:

Not sure manufacturers offers and dealer margins are as closely linked as all that TBH. I think the main thing is dealers reluctance to take in yet anouther p/x which is bound to lose cash if they dont shift it quickly in the current climate. Therefore they are getting the margins they can by either offering crap p/x deals or not discounting new vehicles.

Plus, many would argue that the VAT offer already makes it a good deal.

offering crap p/x deals

Yep, they offered us £1200 for a 52 plate vrs ( it did have 111000 on it) but I sold it for double that and I could probably got a bit more but we just wanted to get rid of it in the end.

That's a harsh p/x price!

My dealer told me they are crying out for Fabia vRS. Told me he got 2 p/x Fabias previous to the week I ordered and they sold on again within the week - one to a customer who travelled from Ireland:eek:. prob due to the fact Skoda are taking an age to release a new Fabia vRS and have stopped making old style ones but people still want them.

Needless to say I got the guide p/x after a wee haggle, though still could have got more if I sold privately (didn't want the hassle though).

Very well said..

To be the Zeniths look more "Chunky" (Insert better word her:P)

But my eyes are drawn to the big gap between the the arch and tyres when i look at the LE wheels, Any1 else ???

isnt the gap because they have chocks in the springs- when they pdi the car it will look the same as any other vrs height wise

:orb_duh: Forgot about the chocs !!!

If i had brains, i'd be dangerous :P
