good or bad? dump valves octavia 02 vrs

Featured Replies

i like the idea of the whoosh sound lol but does this cause problems ? found one on ebay. a baileys kit and dv26 for £127.00 dont even know if thats a good price

You can't have one that dumps to atmosphere, it throws up faults.

You need a recirculating DV.

Mine goes woooosh due to the Bailey DV30 & the ABD CAI

im trying too hard lol

Atmospheric Dumpvalves use to make my Astra Coupe Turbo run poor.

The tsccchh noise soon gets tiring, especially cruising steady on the motorway.

1.8T VAG need to be recirculating.

Mine makes a loud enough dumping noise with the DV30 and the cold air intake and throws no errors.

It hasn't got boring yet and it's been a few months, after I did it I didn't listen to any tunes for the first couple of weeks lol.

It's not so loud that it sounds chav-ish and it pulls like a train

ok the one i saw was atmospheric so no good cant seem to find the recirculating dv prob cause im looking on ebay lol but thx for the advice ill keep looking

hi mate

I got a forge 007 p on now which is recerc. I also went to the bailey dv26 atmo and I loved the noise, sounded ace. still got it aswell as the cold side kit so it goes from cooler to TB. I got it with the std pipe so you dont need to cut ur own aswell as all the block off bits.

I only got codes 2 in 7 month of it goin on.

once you know how to drive to avoid the codes its ok. i got codes when say goin up a hill under partial accel then puttin the cruise on, all you hear is the whistle from it for a few secs then the light comes on and there is no power, jus turn off and on again and its fine.

tis up to you mate but they do run better on recerc. but will be fine on the atmospheric. just youll get a code every so often.

also if you drive at between 5500ish to red line then the dv whistles with the preasure, its too much for the dv mind I had a generic map on then that was at 1.2 bar ish

you could get a forge split r! you will have no end of problems will full atmospheric.

i did on my ibiza cupra

if you want the noise you could just get an induction kit, the noise from the standard recirc vallve will be heard through it, without the hassle

I wouldn't bother with the forge spltr to be honest, mine needed constant adjustment, and doesn't really sound all that great. Alot of people reccomend the forge 007p but I'v never heard one

£40 ebay CAI

£4 for some tesco tights to go over the cone for a bit more protection and jus pull a few layers off and its clean again lol

£90 for the forge 007p

all in all you can hear it nicely but its not intrusive and the growel from the engine is nice too lol

i think im opting for K & N 57i induction kit £95 looking for cheaper lol might update dv as its standard? dont want too much noise but more would be nice :)

CAI is the way to go mate, a cone filter in the engine bay sucking in warm air rising from the turbo will sap your power big time :thumbdwn:

I have to say I find more torque with the standard box and although the noise is good from CAI's It's more important the way a car drives than the way it sounds.

Odd that, I used to have a K&N 53i on a Mk3 Fiesta and it had more torque with the standard airbox than the induction kit. A free-er flowing cone filter must have a negative effect on torque I guess

 now im lost just wanted a bit of noise lol

sorry to butt in whats a dv30?

its the baileys dump valve and its the nuts

Seem to remember us holding on to them the night we fitted it eh Clive?

yea mate, its cheaper to get the CAI and the power is around the same as the std box.

the PiperX 279 kit iirc just replaces the box and sucks in hot air from bay. its crap! sounds ace like but the power loss is lots.

K & N 57i kit is the same. unless you get the Jabba one which is in the same place just has a box built round it.

or the ebay CAI which is a pipe down to the bumper/wing. only trouble with it is the crap filter, thats y you need some of the missus stockins lol

APR R1 diaphragm re circulating dump valve, AKA the dogs testicles.;)

My Bailey dv30 used to stick once it got really hot, I had it changed 3 - 4 times IIRC before I went for the APR one.

Steve:)

I have an ebay CAI with a pipercross universal foam filter. Do I refit it or sell it? hmmm

Love the sound but I'm really not sure I can be bothered.

lol fair one

if you wonna try the dv26 you can have all the bits I got for £60

has all the stuff you need to plug up holes and fit. you wont even need to cut your own pipework as this comes with my std pipe from IC to TB, lol

soon as I get a chance its goin on fleabay anyway mate.

like I said I had no trouble with it apart from on a cruise, and that only happened twice in bout 7 month.
