Simpsons skoda Preston - Oil service

Featured Replies

Just rung Simpson’s Skoda about the cost of an oil change service. He said it would cost about £115. Car is a 56 Fabia vRS. How does that sound?

£5 for the filter, £25 for the oil, £85 labour. Ring them back and ask why it takes 2 hrs to change the oil.

Sounds ok. The oil change service is a bit more than just an oil change.

If you think its to expensive, try another dealer. The labour rates will vary dealer by dealer.

Doesn't sound too bad.

Awesome price is £120 (+VAT) for an interim service (but only £59 for an oil and filter change) according to http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/page.php?jssCart=83a223f201b286c41ea45b07608d35f4&xPage=workshop.html

Maybe worth trying Parkside in Bolton if you are anywhere near there.

I'm sure other small independents / back street places may well be cheaper but depends if you want to stay with the big boys.

looks like ill be going there then, Awesome want £138

Bolton is 25mile from Preston

Sounds about right for dealer labour rates. My old VW dealer charged £87p.h and that was with their 'old car' discount.

Is this something you have to get a dealer/garage to do? Cant do it yourself for £30?

You could do it yourself.

Or get a Mobile Mechanic to do it?

Resetting the light is easy.

Fabia 1999--->

Press & hold button A (the button on your dials)

Switch ignition on

Release button A as soon as the letters OIL appear

Turn button A to the right until the letters are erased & replaced by - - - -

Switch ignition off

Done.

They'll probably reply by asking where you get 4.5ltrs of PD oil for £25.

Also, most oil comes in 4lt containers now, cheeky f*ckers!

Try David Ian in Morecambe (on the White Lund Industrial Estate). I had an oil change service from them for £75, although that was a year ago.

Halfords has pd oil on offer at the moment, 5l £27

i was quoted £300 for a 40k service, oil change air filter from skoda in cardiff

and then £60 to change the brake fluid

nice and cheap to service then....

When my mrs had the polo she was quoted £220 for a brake fluid change at 2 years, she nearly did it but had the sense to phone me first. That is £220 on TOP of the service cost.

The car is coming up to 27k miles. The dash says "inspection" and a spanner is flashing on start up. Its counting down to the service with about 400 miles until it says it needs doing.

I presume at 27k miles and 2.5 years old it needs an interim service? Brake fluid was changed last year.

The car still has warranty so I would rather have it done at a skoda dealer.

How many miles have you done, and when was it last serviced?

I spoke to Parkside today - my car is also a 56 plate Fabia vRS, 2.5 years old, 30k miles and less about 6 months since the last (20k) service.

They recommended an "oil change service" at £85

simpsons are the best main dealer i have ever expierienced,i use colne, but they allways go the extra mile and i have allways found them fair,as i have owned ovr 30 cars i feel i have enough expierience of maindealers to make this statement:D

take your own service bits, thats what i did!! £20 for the genuine oil and filter then £60 for the labour at the skoda dealer!! (got my oil and filter from a TPS!) Trade Parts Specialists

How does a non-trade person get access to their local TPS place so that they can buy bits - as I see that they are flogging off Synta Gold right now?
