You can enable yourself if you have maxidot, otherwise dealer of member with vagcom needed.

I haven't played fully with Maxidot.

However I'm told that some menu options are only available when you have your seatbelt on.

I had the dealer activate this on my elegance.

It also stops anyone opening the boot at traffic lights and nicking anything in there. A thief can open you boot, grab something and then leg it in the opposite direction quicker than you can get your seat belt off.

Yep, just nipped outside and tried it with the seal belt plugged in and found it OK

IIRC it's there on MY2007 onwards.

Or am I getting confused with lighting options, and it's always been there?

makes no difference, but if the car is moving it wont let you play with the setings.

I've had people tugging hard at the handles in mine, too - good job they're metal!

It was switched on from new in my car

swmbo does that with mine, if she waits 1 sec longer the key will have been pulled from ignnition and the doors then unlock

I'd be careful as I seen some VW ones broken and there was a taxi driver who had to get his Octy one replaced when I was last in the garage....and they are expensive.

So I wouldn't be letting people swing out of them ;).

Change of mind. Rather than having a problem with people tugging at the handles all the time I'll simply lock the doors ad labam when the situation requires it. I'm not always going slow enough for people to be able to open a door and get something, and the boot is self locked until you open a door.

This should keep me more aware of the fact and hopefully let me hit the button before anybody tries to jump off.

My Leon behaves differently to the Lupo (and seemingly Skodas- I never enabled this on my Fabia) in that when the doors are locked, one pull on the internal handles still opens the doors. Only the outside handles are locked.

its two pulls on the octy once the anti hijack is enabled.

and the boot is self locked until you open a door.

It is? Not on any I've driven!

Pulled over once on a really hot day to grab a parcel and the guy on the outside couldn't open the boot until i opened the door. I also almost got in trouble because of this at a border crossing. Got out, engine still running to open the boot for inspection and shut the door behind me.

The boot remained locked and I got a thorough inspection for acting suspicious.

press the button down by the cigarette lighter socket and all will open.

I would prefer that way to be honest, saves on people moaning they can't get out of the car.

If you have a maxi-dot it's buried in the menu system somewhere. There's also an auto-unlock feature that means that when you turn the ignition off and remove the key the doors all unlock allowing you and the others to get out, so avoiding door-disemboweling issues!

Anyone know if this can be dealer-enabled on an Ambiente?

Cheers!

can be enabled by dealer or anyone on her with vagcom.

Unless they are keen to get out before you have chance to remove the key, or even more annoying when you are dropping someone off somewhere they are ready to get out while the car is coming to a stop so you have to fanny around unlocking the doors before they try to while you are driving.

I can't believe such a simple system and one that I thought was quite well known has led to such discussion and 40+ posts :D
